First Friday @ UpStart Collective (eastside)
First Friday started as a way for UpStart Collective members to come together over happy hour to toast making it through another month as a founder. Over the months, we began opening it up to the broader community and have since made it a regular occurrence to focus on founders, the journey, and celebrate those that make Portland's startup ecosystem so incredible.
This month we are celebrating the close of Black History Month (since we didn't do a Feb First Friday) and the opening of Women's History Month. Come hang out and learn more about the UpStart Collective, meet the founders, and raise a glass to these critical entrepreneurs who make up this incredible ecosystem!
When you come to the building, enter on the Stark St. side and press #2505 on the door pad. The elevator will be unlocked to take you to the 7th floor.

WednesdayMar 12 2025Startup Conversations in the Couve
Jonathan Evans is the maverick entrepreneur who saw drones before they were cool. As the cofounder of Skyward—a leader in drone operations—and KinectAir, he’s been at the forefront of integrating aerial technology into our everyday world. Jonathan’s knack for spotting opportunities in uncharted territory has made him a pivotal figure in reshaping airspace management and redefining how we capture and use aerial data. He isn’t just following trends; he’s challenging the status quo, turning complex problems into innovative solutions that literally lift off the ground. About the Startup Conversations Event Each month we host a local founder who will give a short presentation about their company. They will focus on how it all got started, where they are today, and their plans for the future including the challenges they face to make their goals happen. Following the presentation our host, Dave Barcos will dig into the founder's background, the company's story, and other observations. After the interview, we will have an audience Q&A session to help attendees ask direct questions of the presenter. It has proven to be a great format to catalyze the local founders and the startups in the region. You won't want to miss it. For more details on other North Bank events check our event calendar at https://www.northbankinnovations.org/events About North Bank Innovations North Bank Innovations is an organization based in Southwest Washington, committed to building a thriving ecosystem that helps early-stage startups.
