Vision boards have quite literally changed Sarah’s life.
In 2008 she found herself destitute, broke and having to recreate her life from scratch after her husband’s affair ended their 8-year marriage, leaving her to pick up the pieces with their three very small children. (Read her story)
Hitting rock bottom sparked in Sarah a desire to totally recreate her life.
So what did she do?
Sarah created a #FutureBoard (a.k.a. vision board). And within 18 months, went from poverty to living her dreams as a corporate executive, manifesting nearly her entire board in that timeframe! Since then, she has manifested FOUR vision boards and an entirely new life, one where she is daily living her wildest dreams.
A few things to note
Be sure to bring any magazines or photos, and a notepad and pen.
Ticket proceeds will include Sarah’s book Hustle Believe Receive: An 8 Step Plan to Changing Your Life and Living Your Dream and support PDX Women in Tech.
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship to have the ticket price waived, please complete this form.

Purpose:
PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.
Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome. |

“I’ve been savoring the delicious joy this new perspective brings me. I have not a shred of doubt that by continuing this, they will continue to be part of my experience. That makes me even more excited. It wasn’t hard to get here. I feel home. I don’t recall the last time I felt simple joy. It’s brought me to the point of tears.”
-Tamar Jensen, Sydney, Australia
“How can I attract abundance in all aspects of my life? I've been trying to understand [your optimistic perspective]...I very much like what I see... Would like to know more…”
-Aadam Nabizaada, Trinidad, Tobago
“The results are amazing. [Perry] is doing important work here.”
-Stefano Iaboni, Rome, Italy
“It was wonderful. I want everyone in the world to feel this. I want to help spread this information.”
-Positively Focused, Level Up participant Maigen Thomas, Portland, Oregon
“I would definitely come for another one!”Positively Focused, Level Up participant
-Claire Giovino, Portland, Oregon
“I first learned a lot of the principles Perry teaches 5 years ago. It was the beginning of my “awakening.” Coming to his workshop reignited that experience and helped me revitalize practices that will get me to the life I’m dreaming of faster and easier - full of purpose. Thank you Perry!”
-Christa King, Portland, Oregon
Level Up is a workshop that makes available a new connection to life making you aware of, and activating, the dreams you hold true for yourself. Total freedom and control over your destiny is available, but requires a new exploration and connection to how we operate.

PDX Python and Pyladies PDX Present Monthly Presentation Night
Roll back
| description |

Come join us for Pythonic talks!
This month, we're proud to present talks covering both advanced and beginner-friendly topics.
Thanks to our speakers Emily Cain and Allan Feldman!
Emily Cain
Purrsistent Debugging
One of the most important skills for a software developer is debugging. How do we approach debugging? What tools do we learn? What skills are involved, and what habits do we pick up as we learn them? How do we teach and communicate about these skills?
In this talk, programmer, writer, and technology educator Emily Cain will explore these issues. Beginners will learn about key tools like PDB and the browser's debugger, as well as learning to inspect code and function outputs to look for patterns. Meanwhile, more advanced coders will learn techniques for understanding and discussing these skills, and gain a better perspective on how to help their more junior colleagues advance beyond the "Googling StackOverflow" stage of debugging. And everyone will get to look at adorable pictures of a particularly dedicated cat as she "debugs" her way into an infinite supply of snacks.
Allan Feldman
Reference cycles: what are they, how to detect them, and how to fix them
Let's talk about garbage! Ever had a long-running Python process whose memory usage seemed to grow over time? In this talk, Allan Feldman, Senior Software Engineer at New Relic, dives into Python internals to show how reference cycles can happen, how to find them in your code, and how to fix a cycle once found. You'll never look at garbage the same way again!
We'll also open things up for some 3-5 minute Lightning Talks afterward. Are you working on something cool or did you discover a new tool or package? Get up and talk about it!
Submit proposals for talks here:

All speakers and attendees must follow our code of conduct:

Join us after the meetup at Bailey's taproom at 213 SW Broadway to continue the discussion over a beverage. |

***Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdx-women-in-tech-pdxwit-march-happy-hour-tickets-43100149708] is required to gain entry to this event ***
Join us for happy hour at Quantum Spatial on March 20th.
Holding other people accountable is one thing; holding yourself accountable is something else altogether. This month, we want to explore self-accountability and talk about what you can do to hold yourself more accountable this year.
While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase three women in our community.
Introduction to Quantum Spatial, including what they do and what job opportunities are available.
Maureen Jemison, Associate Vice President, Series25 Development at CollegeNet, will share how to teach yourself to be a good manager.
Gabrielle Blackwell, Business Development Leader at Cloudability, will talk about transitioning into leadership as a woman and how to find help outside of your employer.
During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking:
- An Activity Table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding
it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director.
- Table Topics to help break the ice.
- A section for job seekers and our sponsors who are hiring, to ensure people get connected.
Agenda:
4:30 p.m. - Doors open/Networking
5:30 p.m. - Introductions, Announcements + Lightning Speakers
6:30 p.m. - Event ends
