A Human Centered Framework to acceleration concepts to AI Capabilities
Tualatin Country Club

The benefits of AI are pervasively accepted, and yet a paradox exists between AI's potential and its success: Research shows that up to 90% of AI/ML initiatives fail adoption; 70% of AI/ML models don't evolve; less than 20% of enterprise functions use AI, and 50% of CDOs fail within the first year. These staggering statistics illuminate organizations' tendency to prioritize artificial intelligence's technological challenges over context, relevancy, and experience. Mindful AI framework is designed to address these challenges and has been successfully implemented to help enterprises accelerate their AI journey with measurable outcomes.

Bio: Ahmer Inam is the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer at Relanto, a global business process transformation and enterprise resiliency firm. Ahmer has more than 20 years of experience driving organizational transformation with intelligent digital solutions. His experience includes leadership roles at firms like Nike, PwC, and Wells Fargo. Ahmer is a member of the healthcare brain trust at XPRIZE where he is responsible for designing incentives based moonshot innovation competitions. Additionally, Ahmer serves as a Data & AI expert with International Institute for Analytics, and he is on the joint World Economic Forum and Responsible AI Institute task force that is designing the world’s first responsible AI certification program. Ahmer is also on the Forbes Technology Council and an advisor to a number of healthcare startups. Ahmer holds two masters degrees, one each in Industrial Engineering and Economics and a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.

FIRESIDE CHAT WITH TROY CROSS AND JEFF BOOTH You certainly will not want to miss this one! Expect a fascinating discussion between two of the brightest minds in the Bitcoin ecosystem, followed by a Q&A for the audience. Come prepared with questions!

Jeff Booth is a Canadian Entrepreneur, Technology Leader, Author, and Strategic Adviser. In January 2020, Jeff released his now famous book “The Price of Tomorrow – Why Deflation is Key to an Abundant Future”. Most recently, Jeff co-founded and is the general partner of ego death capital, a Bitcoin ecosystem venture fund.

Prior to coming to Reed in 2010, he held positions at Yale and Merton College, Oxford. Troy's philosophical research interests center on foundational issues in metaphysics and epistemology, but has also been involved in bitcoin for over a decade, cultivating interest in a number of bitcoin-related issues in that time, most of all, the question of bitcoin mining’s present and future environmental impact.

The Socratic Seminar events are formatted to foster debate, information sharing, and lively discussion. Inspired by other Bitdevs around the country, this is an event for those interested in discussing and participating in the research and development of Bitcoin and related protocols.

LGBTQ+ in Tech: Coming Out Stories… at Work

Coming out stories in the LGBTQ+ community runs the gamut of experiences. In honor of National Coming Out Day (10/11/2022), join PDXWIT and hear from community members on how it has been for them navigating the deeply personal decision to come out at the office. Find out what it was like for them. Was it a good experience, a bad experience, or was it an indifferent experience.

HRC listed the benefits of being out at work and relieve the daily stress of being who you are:

  • Eliminates the need to hide or mislead.
  • Makes deeper friendships possible.
  • Breaks down barriers to understanding.
  • Builds trusting working relationships.
  • Let's bring our “whole selves” to work.
  • Being open can make you more productive, and can even benefit your career because your peers will see you in a new authentic light.

Meet our panel of folx who have opened the closet doors at the office and let’s have a real conversation about being LGBTQ+ on the teams we work with in the organizations we work for and hear their stories.

Facilitated by Crystal Sincoff and Hazel Valdez, we’ll hear from Clove Wright (she/her), Kae (“Naps”) D’Apice (they/them) and Rachel O’Connor (she/they) in this inclusive panel.

Agenda: 5:00 p.m. - Event opens/networking 5:05 p.m. - Introductions 5:10 p.m. - Panel discussion begins 5:50 p.m. - Q&A 6:00 p.m. - Event ends

Six Leadership Traps and How to Avoid Them with Sean Lemson
The Tech Academy

Sean Lemson will be joining us to discuss six traps that many leaders fall into and how to avoid them.

On the surface, these traps seem to be good leadership practices, but they almost always result in poor outcomes for teams and organizations. Despite this repeated failure to achieve what they want, leaders continue to fall into these traps.

Whether you’re a current leader or an aspiring one, you should know these six traps well and build up strong defenses against them. Step one is awareness and Sean will share the rest with you in this Tech Talk.

Sean is an Organizational and Team Performance Coach and certified Executive Coach with over a decade of experience helping companies transform. He founded Motivated Outcomes, LLC with one mission: To help companies become places people want to work.

Join us Friday, October 7th at 1 pm Pacific Time (2p MT, 3p CT, 4p ET) in our Google Meet room.
