update Calagator::Event 1250458820 Portland Perl Mongers - PDX.pm Rakudo Feet Wettening Roll back

description Looking to get your feet wet with perl6/rakudo? Well your in luck, this month pdx.pm is going to spend the entire night poking and playing with rakudo, just for you. The Rakudo * release of Perl 6 on Parrot is almost here. Whether you want to get your own feet wet, or help wetten someone else's feet, join us to write some Perl 6 code and share some learning. We'll begin with introductions, cover some basics, and then work in small groups or pairs for about an hour, followed by a recap, then (of course) beer. If you can bring a laptop, download and install rakudo ahead of time: $ git clone git://github.com/rakudo/rakudo.git $ cd rakudo $ perl Configure.pl --gen-parrot $ make $ make install $ PATH=$PWD/parrot_install/bin/:$PATH $ perl6 -e 'say "Hello World"' For more info, see http://rakudo.org.

description nil What’s better than a summer networking event with excellent cocktails and fabulous company? A summer networking event with excellent cocktails, fabulous company and beautiful JEWELRY of course! What’s even better? A networking event that allows you to connect with all of the professional women in the room! This event provides Portland Female Executive members and attendees (you don’t have to be a member to register!) with an opportunity to present themselves or their products and services in a 3-minute “speed networking” format. update Calagator::Event 1250458841 Portland Semantic Web Interest Group Roll back

description Brian Panulla will present "Goodbye, Semantic HTML - Retraining Your Web Standards Brain" Brian Panulla will present "Goodbye, Semantic HTML - Retraining Your Web Standards Brain" The Web Standards movement pushed us to banish non-semantic presentational markup from our HTML. As a result, we struggled over meaningless decisions - should I use a list or a table? NO TABLE BAD! It's time to rethink what we mean be semantics in our markup. The new W3C standard RDFa (RDF in Attributes) can make our lives as Web and technology professionals easier and more sensible, without angst over whether or not to use tables.
