update Calagator::Event 1250461496 PDMA Learning and Networking Event - Ethnographic 3D Animation Roll back

description Companies are challenged with creating innovative product and services to compete and win in their markets. They must find ways to get new product ideas developed in cultures where it is often difficult to create breakthroughs. They must also continually create customer value - perhaps outside of a typical value chain, and more of a value network. Managing costs is also a factor, and being able to reuse and repurpose assets all along the product development and marketing process is key. Bringing customer insights to the forefront of the process is often difficult in organizations where it is safer and more acceptable to do things the way you’ve been doing them. Today, many companies are competing not only on superior technology or superior innovation, but also superior user experience. Instead of giving an engineer or planner a written use case, what if you gave them an animated scenario where that case is played out – allowing them to ‘see’ and ‘feel’ what needs to happen, instead of just putting a requirement to it and starting to build something? The Oregon Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) invites you to its November Learning and Networking Event. At this event, Kate Ertmann, who is also presenting the same topic at the PDMA 35th Product Innovation and Management Annual Global Conference, will discuss and demonstrate how animation can be used as a business tool throughout the ideation process, product development process and marketing process, and can help streamline time to market. She will also show how to leverage digital assets for later use in marketing campaigns. Companies are challenged with creating innovative product and services to compete and win in their markets. update Calagator::Event 1250461205 OEN Workshop: Tax Issues for Startups Roll back

description Does the word "taxes" have you reacting with a blank, questionable stare? When making a list of priorities, startups tend to list taxes right above, "getting a plant service for the office." As with most startups, there may be a significant period of time before the business becomes profitable. However, there are business decisions you make today that can greatly affect your income tax situation in the future. These decisions include what type of entity your company wants to be, where your company wants to be located or even how your company obtains sales. Also, there are other types of taxes besides income, e. g. sales, payroll and B & O, that can distract you from the beginning. David Uslan will help get you through the startup "tax maze" so that you can more effectively focus on growing your startup and be well positioned for long-term success. update Calagator::Event 1250461482 Portland Java User Group: Continuous Integration Roll back

description This month's topic: Continuous Integration in a Java Environment This is a discussion about being agile with continuous integration (CI) in a Java enterprise. Topics covered will include: * Continuous integration tools * To branch or not to branch? * When to commit * When to build * Self-testing builds * Build storage ---------- Speaker: James Price James Price joined Clearwater Analytics in November 2004 and has been the Director of Development for over 6 years. James brings more than 13 years of experience in software development, having previously worked at Hewlett Packard and CQG Inc. as a developer and lead architect. ---------- PJUG meetings start with some time to eat and socialize (pizza and beverages are provided), followed by the featured speaker, then Q&A, discussion, sometimes a drawing to give away swag. :) Though we like knowing how many people to expect, you don't *have* to RSVP, on Upcoming or otherwise. Go ahead and just show up! Many people also go for a drink and further discussion following the meeting, at a location determined ad hoc (lately, Trees restaurant in the same building). http://twitter.com/pjug http://pjug.org/ (join our mailing list, linked from the website!)
