A large annual open source conference.

Come out and play a few games of werewolf at the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne after CLS on Saturday (the night before the OSCON activities start).

Both new and experienced players are welcome. We will explain all of the rules that you need to know, and if you want a preview of the rules, you can find them on the Portland Werewolf website.

We'll start gathering in the private room around 6:30pm for drinks and food. The game starts at 7pm.

To get here from the Convention Center, go to the bus / streetcar stop right in front and take the CL streetcar or 6 bus south down MLK. Get off at the Hawthorne stop and walk east up Hawthorne. The Lucky Lab is near 9th (a 5-6 block walk).

Android Happy Hour

Join other Android developers for happy hour at Gather in the Double Tree Hotel on Monday evening. Meet face-to-face and share experiences with other developers working on Android. The first 100 people there get a free drink ticket.

Come join PDXScala, the Portland, Oregon Scala users group, for a night of geeking and socializing. We'd like to invite any Scala enthusiasts in town for OSCON and the Scala Summit to come join us at the Lucky Lab Brewpub (http://luckylab.com) located at 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd, just a short hop from the Oregon Convention Center, on Monday, July 19th at 7PM.

Christian Höppler, bass, and Karl Fogel, piano, will perform Franz Schubert's famous song cycle Die Winterreise. The concert is free but donations are requested, all proceeds from which will benefit the Software Freedom Conservancy.

These guys, both amateurs who work in Free software, have been rehearsing at my house and they are AWESOME. Goosebumps. The lyrics are in German but there will be translations.

The 8:30 ending time is real - you will be able to attend the other parties, make it to dinner on time, etc.

This month's topic is: Leading in Technological Activism

Techno-Activism Third Mondays (TA3M) is an informal meetup designed to connect software creators and activists who are interested in censorship, surveillance, and open technology. Currently, TA3M are held in 16 cities throughout the world, with many more launching in the near the future.

One year into the TA3M movement, we will be discussing the successes and failures from around the world.

Note: TA3Ms traditionally take place on the 3rd Monday of every month, but conflicts with OSCON events necessitate meeting later in the week.

This session will be lead by Jen Davidson, a Human-Computer Interaction researcher @Intel, and Sean McGregor, founder of The Privly Foundation and Machine Learning PhD student from Oregon State University.
