update Calagator::Event 1250460790 IndieWebCamp Roll back

description Rather than posting content on many third-party silos of data, we should all begin owning our own data that we're creating. Publish short status updates on your own domain, and syndicate to Twitter. Publish photos on your own domain, syndicate to Flickr, etc, etc. This is the basis of the "Indie Web" movement. We'll get together for two days to talk about what has been done in the field, and where still needs to be done. There will be workshops and breakout sessions the second day. For some reading on the subject, browse Tantek's documentation of his projects like Whistle and Falcon, two projects he created as an effort to begin owning his own published content. update Calagator::Event 1250460793 Mentorship Speed-Dating -- Business, Software Development, Visual Communications Roll back

description Are you looking for a mentor? Are you looking for someone to mentor? Here's your chance to find a match! Much like speed dating, we'll set you up with eight different mentors in your field, and you'll get 15 minutes to share your ideas, questions, answers and advice with each one. Unlike speed dating, there's no awkward Yes/No checkboxes to turn in at the end. Everyone gets everyone else's contact info, and nobody feels left out. Hopefully. We're looking for eight mentors and eight mentees (a funny word for someone who needs a mentor), in these three categories: * Business (10am - Noon) This includes anything in the topic of Business: sales, marketing, operations, finance, legal and management. * Software Development (1 - 3pm) This can include coding, programming, web app development, back-end, front-end, and anything related to making software. * Visual Communications (4 - 6pm) All things visual: art, design, graphics, visualization, photography, whatever gets the message across. Important: We can only accept 8 mentors and 8 mentees in each of the three categories. To RSVP, email [email protected] and tell us your name, what category you'll be in (Business, Software Development or Visual Communications), and whether you're a mentor or mentee.) update Calagator::Event 1250460789 July Meetup: Schema.org - Good, Bad or Meh? Roll back

description Portland Semantic Web Interest Group Monthly meetup! A lot has happened in the last month in the Semantic Web! Google, Bing and Yahoo! have joined forces to guide the development of embedded semantics in Web pages. Not everyone is happy about this! Come and discuss the implications of Schema.org now that the dust has settled and people have had time to think about what it really means. After the tech talk we'll have some social time at a local watering hole. description nil If you're like me, you spend WAYYYY too much time in front of a computer. I think it would be great to have a monthly get together at a bar or pub to just get to know each other, have a brew, and yes, talk about the business. Real human interaction, in other words. Repeats the last Tuesday of every month.
