TiE Oregon Pitch Club featuring Ana Andueza
Connective DX Community Room

TiE Members: FREE / Public: $25

When you are pitching to investors, they will want to know whether they can trust you with their money: inevitably you're going to get to the question of what the financial projections for your business are. When are you going to make money and how much?

One thing that will be 100% certain about your numbers: they will be wrong.

However, what is actually more important, is how you arrived at those numbers. Investors will be more interested in hearing what assumptions you made about the number of customers you are expecting to get, how much it costs to sell to them, what the costs are of producing your product or services, how much staff you will need, etc. etc. You have to demonstrate that you know your market, your abilities and the things you will need to make your vision a profitable reality.

For some entrepreneurs, this is a really daunting topic. However, you must be able to understand your business and the numbers behind it, before you can convince anyone else to come along for the ride.

Join us for TiE Oregon Pitch Club where our July speaker, Ana Andueza, will shed light on how to construct your financial model.

As a CFO as well as an angel investor, Ana has broad experience in dealing with startups and finances.

Currently the CFO at CFO with Criterion Brock, she is a TiE member, angel investor, and vice chair of the OEN's Angel Oregon. Previously she was the chief financial officer for Irwin Commercial Finance and U.S. Bancorp Equipment Finance. Earlier in her career, Andueza held senior accounting positions with U.S. Bank and Deloitte and Touche.

Join us for this talk, networking and refreshments as well as pitch practice and actionable feedback!

TiE Oregon Pitch Club Featuring Ryan Jenson CEO & Founder of HoneyComb
DeskHub

Join us for TiE Oregon's November edition of Pitch Club featuring Ryan Jenson CEO & founder of HoneyComb!

When: Nov. 5th 5:30pm - 8:30pm Where: DeskHub, 334 NW 11th Ave., Portland, OR 97209 Cost: TiE Members: Free; Non-members: $25 Exclusive 20% Portland Startup Switchboard Promo Code: HONEYCOMB

Mr. Jenson has experienced-based knowledge of what it takes to get even the most difficult products to market. Founding and running a company that specializes in agricultural drones (in which regulation is still being decided by the U.S. government), Ryan and HoneyComb have had to learn how to pivot and adapt while still delivering value to customers and building their company. The insight that Ryan can provide to entrepreneurs and their startups is extremely valuable in today's highly saturated and ever-changing market.

Once Mr. Jenson is finished speaking, you will have the opportunity to practice your pitches with us. You can practice investor pitches, concept pitches, sales pitches, co-founder pitches, product pitches, elevator pitches, or any other pitch you can think of. Bring your pitch and pitch deck to receive actionable and valuable feedback from fellow entrepreneurs who have been through it or are going through it. You never know, there may be an investor or two sprinkled throughout the crowd.

Not fully comfortable pitching? Come be part of the audience and learn by watching and providing feedback to others. However, it pays not to just be a watcher; you will definitely get the most benefit from this event by getting up and practicing your pitch! Many went before you, lived to tell the tale (we don’t bite!) and got a lot of actionable feedback!

Speaker Bio:

Ryan is CEO & founder of HoneyComb which specializes in the development of drone technology and data services for precision agriculture. Over the past decade Ryan has contributed to a wide range of technology projects with the USDA, Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, British Royal Navy, NASA and Fortune 500 companies. Startup Weekend Vancouver - Community Pitch Night
The Oregon Public House

Enjoy a fun evening meeting other entrepreneurs, and learn to give 1 minute pitches in a safe environment.

Pitching is an important skill to succeed in life and in Startup Weekend. When you're meeting people for the first time, its important to be able to introduce yourself and make a good impression in a short amount of time.

How it works:
Arrive early, at 6 pm to register and mingle. At 6:45 we start with group introductions. Then at 7, we'll split up into small groups of 4. Everyone in the groups get to give one minute pitches, followed by 4 minutes of Q&A / coaching from peers and mentors. After everyone gets a turn, we'll split up the groups again, and the fun starts over. By the third round, everyone is guaranteed to be able to pitch like pros!

Don't forget, the Startup Weekend starts on Friday January 29th. www.bit.ly/swvanwa
