We meet in a secure office, which means you need to be let into the building by someone who works here. The doors will be open from 6:15 pm to 6:45 pm; after that you will not be able to get in. So you can be a little bit late, but not much! |

We will be discussing some different graph and network algorithms and exploring how best to implement them in Clojure. Focus will be on functionality, efficiency and generalizability. And joy.
Bio: Ryan Spangler is currently Lead Developer at Little Bird, a social network analysis software startup in Portland OR. He has been contributing to open source Clojure for going on 4 years now, and he has been a lisp enthusiast in some form or another since he saw his first parenthesis. |

Native Apps with Appium on Real Devices
Roll back
| description |
nil |
→ |
<p><b>Appium</b> is an open source, cross-platform, test automation framework for native, hybrid and mobile web apps on iOS and Android. It uses the <a href="https://w3c.github.io/webdriver/webdriver-spec.html">WebDriver JSON protocol</a> to standardize the automation API across the two platforms and three types of apps.</p> <p>
Documentation on how to use Appium on real devices is scarce. Meetup Co-Organizer An Doan figured it out recently and thought it would be a good idea to share what he learned. Boiled down to a few quick slides and a live demo on a real device.</p> <p>
Topics Covered</p> <p>
• What do I need?</p> <p>
• How do I use Appium?</p> <p>
• Does it really work?</p> <p>
• Does it work well? </p> <p>• What's hot and what's not? </p> <p>
• How well does it scale?</p> |

Women Who Hack
Roll back
| description |
This will be a casual get together for women who want to hack on projects with or around other women. All types of projects (software and hardware), languages, platforms and experience levels are welcome. Remember, no experience is an experience level!
Don't have anything to work on? Come, and we'll help you find a project!
What you should bring:
* Your laptop or other equipment
* Yourself!
We'll provide:
* the space, including lots of seating and tables
* internet
* some snacks, including gluten-free and vegan options.
Our goal is to support local women hackers (and aspiring hackers) by providing a safe, welcoming environment in which you can connect with and learn from each other.
We're kid-friendly, too, so feel free to bring your children with you.
Women Who Hack is open to all self-identified women and genderqueer persons, as well as accompanied children of all genders.
All participants of Women Who Hack agree to follow the <a href="http://citizencodeofconduct.org/">Citizen Code of Conduct</a>.
Questions? Get in touch: [email protected].
Our Google Group is <a href="https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/women-who-hack">https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/women-who-hack</a>. |

Topic: TBD
Speaker: All?
**Note: Code-n-Splode (CnS) is a women-focused group. All self-identified women and genderqueer persons are invited to attend and participate, and men are welcome as the guest of a female participant.
For more information, visit our website, or send an email to <a href="http://groups.google.com/group/code-n-splode">our list</a>. |

* Yourself!
We'll provide:
* the space, including lots of seating and tables
* internet

The biggest Angular conference in the world, ng-conf is taking place in two weeks in Salt Lake City. This year, they're allowing remote locations to live stream and we're opening our office in the Pearl for the full two day event. If you have members of your group that would be interested in attending, tickets are $20 and include full day access both Thursday and Friday, coffee in the am, lunches and a custom conference t-shirt.
Here is the link to our event sign up page: http://bit.ly/1DEPUsr

What's in a mobile database - Samuel Giddins w/ Realm
Roll back

<p><b>NOTE: </b>I wanted to make sure everyone saw the location difference! We'll be meeting at Plus QA again this month!</p> <p>
<b>ALSO NOTE: </b>We're meeting a week early this month due to some travel conflicts for the organizers ;)</p> <p>
It seems like every year, we see a new database launch. But most of them are designed to work in server environments, not solve the problems that mobile developers face. A database that's truly designed to work on phones, tablets, and watches is going to look different from SQLite -- it will be built on a universal, cross-platform, memory-mapped, thread-safe data representation of data, via a simple and object-oriented API. The focus will be to let developers write apps faster, focus on crafting better experiences, and handle more data locally.</p> |
