Effectively conveying information and knowledge to others is a critical skill. But how do we, as humans, learn best? When do people start to lose focus on our message? How can you as a coach, facilitator, trainer, teacher (one who wants to help others learn), or presenter use the latest in brain-based learning to help those you are teaching to learn? This brief overview of the content in Sharon Bowman's Training from the Back of the Room! is an invitation to see who is doing the most talking, moving, and writing in all of your communications. You will also get a glimpse of the 6 learning principles and 6 memory vehicles that you might use in your next presentation, training, or coaching session. This interactive session is an invitation to look at how we traditionally teach and how we naturally learn. It expresses the evolution of training from the traditional hierarchical norm to an emergent partnership norm.
Christine Brautigam presents this opportunity to learn how you can be most effective when transferring knowledge to others!

The seventh annual “What is…?” conference-experience will engage communication, media, and nature by examining everyday life — our lifeworks and lifestyles — emphasizing the lifeworlds (environments) we live in. It will investigate how communication/media constitute and permeate all avenues and forms of life — from scale, pace, and pattern to the public, private, and organic. By building bridges through multidisciplinary networks, the event emphasizes how communication is instrumental in and for living systems. What is life and how is life mediated? |

Advanced Data Visualization - DAMA PDX
Roll back
| description |
The world produces more than 2.5 exabytes of data every day. There is just too much information out there and traditional reports using tabs, rows and columns do not paint the whole picture any longer.
Visualization is one key approach to gaining insight from this mountain of data. Advanced Visualizations Platforms have enabled the use of more dynamic and interactive business graphics, such as real-time dashboards and charts that update automatically as the data changes. It enables knowledge workers to see the trends and patterns (along with gaps and outliers) in the data that are not as easily identified in rows and columns of numbers. Even Data Scientists are leveraging advanced visualizations tools to explore, understand and communicate insights, along with the actions that need to be taken.
In this session, we will explore how advanced visualization tools are being utilized in the era of big data to draw valuable business insights and we will also delve into some of the predominant data visualization tools being used by Data Scientists.

Speaker
