update Calagator::Event 1250471094 Beer of Trust Key-Signing Roll back

description "Beer of Trust" is a key signing party with beer! ## What's a key-signing party?? A key-signing party is a get-together with PGP users for the purpose of meeting other PGP users and signing each other's keys. This helps to extend the "web of trust" to a great degree. Also, it sometimes serves as a forum to discuss strong cryptography and related issues. ## What if I don't have a key yet? If you don't have a PGP key yet, this is a good chance to get your feet wet. If you bring a computer, you can generate a test key at the event and experiment with sending messages to others there. It can be helpful to have someone present to walk you through the process the first time. It is recommended that you only generate a test key at the event, and later generate your real key in private. See below for links to some helpful resources for securely generating a key. ## What do I need for this party? Required Items: * A picture ID or some other way for people to match you to your identity * Your key ID, key type, hex fingerprint, and key size. You can print out slips of paper to hand out your key info if you'd like. * A pen/pencil or whatever you'd like to write with * A computer is not required, and it is not recommended to use your computer to sign keys at the event At the event, you'll meet others, confirm their key ID in person, and swap key IDs with them. Later when you get home, you can download the full keys and sign them, then upload the signature to the keyserver or email it to them directly. [RSVP here](http://pin13.net/BoT/2016-11-21/). create Calagator::Event 1250471346 Open Data Day Portland Roll back

description nil Open Data Day is a gathering of citizens in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption of open data policies by the world's local, regional and national governments. If you have an idea for using open data, want to find an interesting project to contribute towards, learn about how to visualize or analyze data or simply want to see what's happening, then definitely come participate! No matter your skillset or interests, we are encouraging organizers to foster opportunities for you to learn and help the global open data community grow. #### Developers We need computer cowboys and cowgirls like yourself to wrangle data into something useful. That means visualization, notification, integration, etc., all in the name of doing something crazy and fantastic. #### Designers We need people like you to make the everything look amazing, feel intuitive, and have a smooth user experience. The best application in the world that no one can use... isn't much use! You know the drill. #### Librarians I heard you folks like books and eat catalogs of data for breakfast. You beautiful people are going to scour the earth for interesting data, help the rest of us figure out what’s important, and generally be useful. #### Statisticians YES! YOU ARE SO NEEDED. Seriously. While we can find it, blow it up, calculate it, and make it look pretty, we needs us some mean number crunchin’ to present meaningful visualizations. Join up. #### Citizens We need you the most. If it weren’t for you, this whole thing wouldn’t be happening. We need ideas, cheerleaders, and friends to spread the word. For more info visit http://opendataday.org/

update Calagator::Event 1250471341 Nike Tech Talks Roll back

description Join Nike Digital for the next event in our Nike Tech Talks series on Thursday, February 9th from 4:30-6:30pm! The Shape of Revolutions: How Things Change Ellen Friedman | MapR Consultant, Auther, and Apache Software Foundation Committer @ellen_friedman There’s a revolution underway in how people work with data. For one thing, streaming data is no longer seen as a special use case – and that’s a good thing because streaming is a better fit to the way life happens. Stream-first architectures are useful even beyond real-time processing. Another big idea has to do with where data lives: the big data revolution showed us that data structures spanning more than one machine are a good thing. But a new revolution involves data structures that span more than one continent (geo-distribution) and that go from on-premise to cloud. In this talk, Ellen will tell a few stories that show how innovation with real impact can happen, including the shift in thinking and in engineering culture that underlie successful change. We’ll look at emerging technologies and how best to use them, new designs in architecture, and flexible practices such as a microservices style that have huge implications in IoT and other large-scale analytical workflows. RSVP: https://niketechtalksfeb2017.splashthat.com We hope to see you at the event and encourage you to invite your colleagues. create Calagator::Event 1250471345 Coffee w/ Co-Founders Startup Week Edition! Roll back

description nil Portland Startup Week is happening again Feb. 6-10th and, as we did last year, Coffee w/ Co-Founders will meet during this incredible event. The format is pretty laid back. Come by, grab a cup of coffee, and network with other business owners who are working on incredible projects. We can't wait to hear what you're working on! Please be aware that we will need to be sensitive to Coava's normal customer traffic. As such, we'll do our best to confine ourselves to the wall in the back side of the shop. About Coffee w/ Co-Founders: As a business owner you are faced with many challenges. You're forced to make decisions every day that could make or break your business. Coffee w/ Co-Founders is a way to network with other Entrepreneurs to allow free flowing information with the intent to collaborate and help each other. So often we're challenged and there's very little we can do to express our challenges with the people we work with or the people we care about. Think of Coffee w/ Co-Founders as your own personal support group for business owners. We're all here to help!

description RSVP here - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdxwit-action-presents-womens-march-on-washington-portland-tickets-31244057818 Want to participate in the “Women’s March on Washington: Portland” with a supportive group? PDXWIT will be marching together for gender equality and women’s rights. We will not stand by silently as policies are enacted that systematically subjugate women, people of color and other underrepresented groups. There is power in numbers, and together we stand united against bias and prejudice. While we are not officially affiliated with the “Women’s March on Washington,” we stand in solidarity with their mission and want to provide a supportive community for women to participate in Portland. We are meeting at 11:30am at the pier in front of the Oregon Maritime Museum (198 SW Naito Pkwy) in the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The march begins at 12 and continues to 3:30. Please RSVP so that we know how many people to expect. All are welcome to march with us. PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering: educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

create Calagator::Event 1250471341 Nike Tech Talks Roll back

description nil Join Nike Digital for the next event in our Nike Tech Talks series on Thursday, February 9th from 4:30-6:30pm! If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]
