Since PDXWIT has come to be the safest spaces in our community to learn and grow, we’ve decided to make the theme of this event discovering something new. The conversation starter “Name one of your ‘superpowers’ at work” gives everyone permission to stop being so modest and start bragging about how awesome you are! While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase two women in our community. Introduction to Zapproved, including what they do and what job opportunities are available. Kari Fass, Company & Community Relations Manager at LaunchCode, will tell us how to see your career through the eyes of a coach. Lisa Wagner, President at Xinnia, will teach us how to be a secret weapon. During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking: an activity table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. Behavior Driven Development (BDD) can provide a higher level of confidence in a project by testing at a higher level: the project's input and output level. In this presentation we'll look at examples of BDD implemented in cucumber, show how it can catch errors other tests can't, how it can be used not only for improving confidence in deployments but verifying deployments as well.
