Recently, she's "recovering" from having taught intro to programming at Portland State for a term. We organize a variety of content types, and the organizing team believes in delivering the best value for time invested in our events. Companies have launched, founders paired, code taken apart, lessons learned, and more. We are not the typical meetup where a teacher like presenter stands in front of the class and delivers their message. We are a full hands on interactive experience and meetings are successful from the cumulative knowledge and expertise of all members. Join us for something different. Join us to learn. Let’s have fun building our dreams. Register for our events and buy your ticket on meetup.com

One way to feel empowered is to get comfortable being brave and bold. This is so important that we’ve made it the theme of this event. The conversation starter “Which country would you move to tomorrow if you knew you had a job there?” will give you a chance to engage in a thought experiment wherein you take a huge personal leap. While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase three women in our community.
᛫ Introduction to Airbnb, including what they do and what job opportunities are available.

᛫ Deena Anreise, Senior Marketing Manager at Prialto, will tell us how to use your gut to make a major career change.

᛫ Kathy Lee, Software Developer, will talk about why she started speaking publicly and why you should, too.
During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking:
᛫ An Activity Table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director.
᛫ Table Topics to help break the ice. ᛫ A section for job seekers and those hiring, to ensure people get connected.
Event FAQ

Q: What is the parking situation?

A: Limited street parking

Q: Is there secure bike parking?

A: Not available for public use

Q: Should I consider using public transportation?

A: Yes!

Q: What I can expect of check-in?

A: In addition to PDX WIT check-in through Eventbrite, Airbnb requires everyone to sign-in and wear their name tags. Name tags will be printed in-advance for early registrants as well as onsite.
PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. There is no fee for parking.

TriMet:

Our recommendation on public transit if you are coming from downtown Portland: Take the MAX Blue Line or Red Line train to Sunset Transit center. There, catch the Bus 48 or Bus 62 which can drop you off right in front of the school.

Please Note:

• We will take a 45 minute lunch at approximately 12 p.m.

• There is no refrigerator at this location, but there is a microwave to heat up a lunch.

• There are number of eating establishments within walking distance where you can grab a quick bite.

• Space is limited to ensure we can provide the best experience.

• If something comes up after you sign up such that you are unable to attend, please change your status. This will allow others to sign up.

For questions, please email [masked]
