create Calagator::Event 1250469787 Discussion Night: Layout Solutions Battle Royale Roll back

description nil <p>I'd like to get every one together and talk about what approaches everyone is using to layout in their apps and hear about your big wins and/or pain points with that approach. </p> <p>Do you use Autolayout? Do you set it up in code or Interface Builder? Maybe a mix of both? What about Size Classes? Maybe static numbers everywhere and big switch statements? Come share your thoughts and experiences and learn from others in round table style discussion on the topic this Wednesday night!</p> <p>Sorry for the late notice, I was surprised this week was already the 2nd Wednesday... I'll be trying for better lead time in the future! Hope to see you there!</p>

description Join us for wine & cheese and a memorable, professionally facilitated, conversation about women in tech. This will be a thought provoking conversation and all genders are encouraged to attend. Some questions to consider are: • Are you open to new perspectives? • Interested in learning from others? • What could you learn if you spent a day in another gender’s shoes? • What do the genders have to say about each other? • What’s the edgy, authentic conversation we’d like to have, but normally don’t? We would love to have your voice in this perspective-enhancing conversation. Cost: $20. We do take walk-ins but prefer that you register online: http://www.meetup.com/Navigate/events/227512135/ Join us for wine & cheese and a memorable, professionally facilitated, conversation about women in tech. create Calagator::Event 1250469438 Test Ruby PDX Monthly Meeting Roll back

description nil Portland's testing user group for Ruby developers! Conversation and peer mentoring starting at 6, presentations at 7. For more information, follow @TestRubyPDX on Twitter or join the #testrubypdx Slack channel (under PDX.rb). This month, get your match on with a double feature on RSpec's custom matchers! Stephen Prater will show us how to get our custom matchers working and then Robb Shecter will take it to the cloud in a presentation on testing web app configurations. ### Stephen Prater - Custom Matchers for Fun, Profit, and World Domination If you're only using RSpec's built-in matchers, you're missing out on an opportunity to create more robust and expressive specs. Using custom matchers, you can take full advantage of the framework's capabilities. ### Robb Shecter - RSpec in the Cloud: Using custom RSpec matchers to manage web app configurations Custom matchers are one of the most powerful descriptive features of the RSpec API. In this talk, Robb Shecter will show how to use them in a novel context: Testing live web application configurations.

In this talk, I'm going to show you how to prevent error handling from making a mess of your code. After there should be time to chat, and ask each other questions. description nil You’ve been told to backup, backup, backup. Apple promised that Time Machine would take care of all your worries back in Leopard, but is it really taking care of all your backup needs? PMUG members talk all the time about cloning a drive, but what does that mean? And how do you protect yourself if a wolf comes and huffs, puffs, and blows your house down? Find out about how to do a ‘belt & suspenders’ backup strategy that will protect you as best as possible. And you might even win a copy of a backup program at a raffle. Come join us at the Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center (Ecotrust Center), 721 NW Ninth Avenue. Question and answer hour starts at 6:30pm, with the main discussion starting around 7:30 pm and ending at 9 pm. This meeting is open to the public. If you find that you want to divest yourself of your old Apple hardware to make way for something new and shiny then you can bring up to 5 items to swap at the meeting.

We'll start this talk by creating our own decorator, to see firsthand how they work. Then, we'll take a look at how decorators are used when creating Angular 2 components. Lastly, we'll see how to use decorators with AngularJS 1 controllers to make them look more syntactically similar to Angular 2 components.</p> <p><b>About James</b></p> <p>James has worked extensively with a variety of technologies, including ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, SQL Server, JavaScript, TypeScript, Knockout.js, AngularJS, and Twitter Bootstrap. James, a self-confessed geek who enjoys talking about programming and learning new technologies, recently joined the Treehouse team as a teacher. You can find James on Twitter @SmashDev.</p>

update Calagator::Event 1250469771 SEC440: Critical Security Controls: Planning, Implementing and Auditing Roll back

description Save $200 if you register by March 2nd. This is a 2 day event, Saturday April 2nd and April 9th. Brian Ventura is a local community instructor for SANS and active with the Portland Chapter of ISSA, ISACA and OWASP. This course helps you master specific, proven techniques and tools needed to implement and audit the Critical Security Controls as documented by the Center for Internet Security (CIS). These Critical Security Controls, listed below, are rapidly becoming accepted as the highest priority list of what must be done and proven before anything else at nearly all serious and sensitive organizations. These controls were selected and defined by the US military and other government and private organizations (including NSA, DHS, GAO, and many others) who are the most respected experts on how attacks actually work and what can be done to stop them. They defined these controls as their consensus for the best way to block the known attacks and the best way to help find and mitigate damage from the attacks that get through. For security professionals, the course enables you to see how to put the controls in place in your existing network though effective and widespread use of cost-effective automation. For auditors, CIOs, and risk officers, the course is the best way to understand how you will measure whether the controls are effectively implemented. SEC440 does not contain any labs. If the student is looking for hands on labs involving the Critical Controls, they should take SEC566. The Critical Security Controls are listed below. You will find the full document describing the Critical Security Controls posted at the Center for Internet Security. One of the best features of the course is that it uses offense to inform defense. In other words, you will learn about the actual attacks that you'll be stopping or mitigating. That makes the defenses very real, and it makes you a better security professional.
