create Calagator::Event 1250478110 Portland Surveillance Policy Development Roll back

description nil After passing a privacy resolution and two facial recognition bans, City of Portland staff are now working on drafting a policy for a surveillance ordinance for Portland. This surveillance technologies policy will focus on how the City of Portland uses, procures, and manages surveillance technologies and information. And the policy drafters want input from you! At this month's meeting, learn about the development of Portland's surveillance ordinance and how you can participate. Because of the complexity of such a policy, its development will be divided into three separate modules, with a discussion of the first module beginning on Wednesday, March 16th. Hector Dominguez, Open Data Coordinator at Smart City PDX, within Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, will join us at this meeting to explain the City's planned process for developing the policy and how community members can share their thoughts and insights. Come to the meeting, join the conversation, and help create a strong and effective surveillance policy for Portland! Please RSVP via the Meetup page or by sending an email to [email protected]. Support your company throughout the entire process from the assessment review all the was to post-migration services as well as training to ensure limited interruption to productivity. Step into the future with confidence. We have partnered with industry leaders to provide you with the tools needed to achieve a seamless transition. Our Office 365 Migration services traditionally include the following steps. We recognize that every company/situation is unique and can customize our services to meet your unique needs. Initial Exchange server/health assessment. Assessment Review – A thorough review is conducted with your team including suggestions on how to best prepare the server for the upcoming migration. Training – The entire staff is trained on what to expect on the transition day. This will include a brief walkthrough of Office 365 online. This is invaluable to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible and that staff are comfortable on the migration day. Selection of migration date – This is the date/time when the email will stop flowing into your current infrastructure and start delivering to Office 365. Pre-migration data copy – In the days/weeks leading to the cutover date, our team will begin the process of copying all of your important data to the cloud. Migration day – On the cut-over date, we like to have a few staff members at your location to ensure that everything is going smoothly and that your staff receives the support they need. During this time any ancillary devices can also be set up including phones/iPods etc. Post-migration data sweep – On the migration day, our systems will automatically start sweeping mailboxes for anything that was left behind or was delivered after the migration date. This ensures all of your data gets to its new home in the cloud.

create Calagator::Event 1250478106 Sunset and RFCs Roll back

description nil Sunset will re-occur again at the same time again tommorrow, and every day, namely at the 12th hour. However, due to the inadequacy of our horological technology, the clock so-called "time" keeps moving with respect to it. Therefore the clock has to be continually recalibrated, and this is an unnecessary problem that is, due to an inherent design flaw in our industrial engineering, and unavoidable fact of modern so-called "life" and of the Roman empire generally. The basic problem is that "midnight" is not an astronomically observable event, and neither is the "meridum". Therefore they should not be the basis for our horological calculations. Unfortunately, the ISO and the Roman empire want us all dependent on their astrological fictions so that their priesthood remains in authority, and their factory bosses can keep us under their thumb, by telling us what to do when. This is unnecessary, and we should stop complying with it. I hereby declare the clock to be deprecated. Furthermore, I declare sundown to be the beginning of the new day. By the way, the sun is not "god", but it is a fact of nature. Also, it is a tangential issue to the one at hand, but lunacy is worthy of consideration. I pledge $92 to anyone who can invent a reliable handheld horological device that can tell me what hour it is, any time of year, for the latitude and longitude of Portland, Oregon. Version 2.0 will abstract the calculations to cover an arbitrary latitude and longitude. If anyone can implement version 2.0 as a bash utility, and get it integrated with the Linux kernel and distribted with a GNU/Linux operating system, I will pay your $95, with or without the handheld. There is no need for 24 hours every day. Why are we requiring this? It is almost as stupid as legislating an official decimal expansion of pi. We could have more or less hours per day depending on the season. The full day should have 24 hours only at the equinoctii. Since I like to take siestas in the summer, and wake up at midnight in winter. Therefore, the hours should expand and contract accordingly. Every day should have exactly 12 hours of daylight, and this is not presently occuring. Hello!? We are totally contrary to nature, and most other species of animal are far more intelligent than us in this regard. We are not operating according to the design of nature. And the natural design is considerably better than the designs of the pyrrhonnical ignoramuses and logical positivists have incoherently collaborated in inventing, in the name of clockwork and so-called "cognitive science", to which we must protest. This is a Request For Comments, and I would like the IEEE, the W3C, and other standards bodies to adopt it as an official recommendation. I declare a boycott on employment, and on all interviews with tech recruiters until they can find a start-up to include this perk in my compensation package. I invite you all to join me in this boycott. This makes much more sense than daylight savings, stock options, wage slavery, or a pie eating contest in which the prize for winning is more pie. Thanks for your consideration.

create Calagator::Event 1250478105 Ensuring your MVP Success with a Failure Mode Effects Analysis Roll back

description nil Every product has challenges and risks that must be managed to ensure success, help turn your unknown risks into known ones through the FMEA process. An MVP (Minimum viable product) is a basic, launch-able version of your product that supports minimal yet must-have features (which define its value proposition). Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a methodology for analyzing potential problems early in the product development cycle where it is easier to take action to overcome potential issues, thereby enhancing reliability through design. The tool is used to identify relationships between process and product requirements and the potential for unacceptable outputs and their effects. In this session you will: Review the various forms of product risk analysis used in different industries. Use a basic template to ensure all product challenges and risks are accounted for + managed with your teams. Access a set of case-study examples to help ensure successful use of the tool in the future.

create Calagator::Event 1250478103 Data Engineering Bootcamp by Epicodus + Data Stack Academy | Applications Close March 14th Roll back

description nil We’re excited to offer a new cloud data engineering track in partnership with Epicodus beginning March 14! This new track will run on the same schedule as the web development cohorts. It will have courses in Intro to Programming, Data Engineering Fundamentals, Big Data Engineering, and Cloud Data Engineering, followed by an internship. This track also offers a comprehensive career services curriculum, and after you graduate, we'll provide a year of career services assistance while you look for your first job in the tech industry. If you’d like to take a closer look at what to expect out of this track, you can check out our course overview here: https://www.epicodus.com/data-engineering ______________________________________________ Did you know… There are currently 40K Data Engineering jobs on Indeed! In fact, the 2020 Dice Tech Job Report found it had the largest increase of all tech jobs between 2019 and 2020. AND 81% of data companies plan on hire more Data Engineers. The newest course offered by Epicodus and Data Stack Academy—which starts March 14th—helps students break into the Data Engineering field. These Portland-based companies curated a state licensed 27 week course—which includes an internship. So what do Data Engineers do? They build the infrastructure that manages an organization’s data. Companies are collecting more data than ever before. In 2020, they amassed 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day. That data is becoming their most valuable asset. Companies want people like you to manage it. || About Data Stack Academy’s founder || Parham Parvizi is a founding member of Tura.io and DataStack.Academy. Tura is a group of professional Cloud Data Engineers and Architects while Data Stack Academy is the most comprehensive Data Engineering bootcamp; training the future of Cloud Data Engineers. Parham has been a Data Engineer and Cloud/Big Data Solution Architect for nearly 20 years working for major silicon valley tech companies. He started by loading floppy disks into an IBM 8086 machine to play games at the age of five. He learned programming as a teenager by hiding bookmarks on the shelves at Barnes & Noble. He now guides companies as a senior advisor on their digital transformation to the Cloud. Parham is an Apache Software Foundation contributor and was an early adopter and contributor to open source Big Data projects as Map Reduce and Hive. He was one of the founding members of Talend and helped their growth in the Americas and Asia Pacific market during the early years of the company. As a Talend ambassador, he’s trained thousands of users around the world. Later, he served as a Big Data Product Manager at Pivotal (currently known as Vmware Tanzu). He was a team member for Greenplum Distribution of Hadoop and led the team behind a Hadoop distributed SQL query language called HAWQ. As a Data Advisor and consultant, Parham’s has had the opportunity and pleasure to work with nearly every fortune 100 company over the years. From managing thousands node clusters to optimizing data task that you are familiar with behind the scenes. || About Epicodus || Our president, Michael Kaiser-Nyman, founded Epicodus in 2012. After becoming frustrated with how difficult it was to hire programmers for his software company, he talked with other employers and discovered he wasn't alone. At the same time, he knew many people who were struggling to find work. He realized that if there were a school that taught practical software development skills, people could get great jobs and companies could hire the staff they need. Epicodus's first class started in early 2013 with just Michael and 8 students. Since then, we've grown to over a dozen staff and over two thousand students and alumni.
