update Calagator::Event 1250462665 Summer Social & Lightning Talks Roll back

description
It's been a crazy half year in the web world. Lots of new standards taking hold, lots of new services, tools, and methodologies have popped up. Time to kick back and wrap out collective heads around just what's been going on.

This will be a series of lightning talks - or 5 minute talks about whatever you wish to talk about. It can be anything, such as: a tool you like to use... a design philosophy... a business idea you want to pitch... a story of when you were a boy raised by wolves; whatever you feel like sharing. Just let me know, there are only 12 slots available. Email me if you want to present. Anyone who signs up and presents will get a gift (I'm not sure what yet, but something nice).

This is also a potluck, so please bring something (dessert, chips, drinks... whatever you like to eat). You can still come even if you don't present or bring anything. All are welcome as always!

We've had a couple of these in the past, and many people claim it's their favorite event. It's very low stress and fun gathering... far more open and social than our structured talks.

So, let's grill some hotdogs (and vegi-dogs), crack open some root beer, and trade some stories!

It's been a crazy half year in the web world. update Calagator::Event 1250462688 CHIFOO Presents - Sit up Straight! - How Wearable Technology can Support Healthy Living Roll back

description Admission is free for CHIFOO members. Admission for non-members is $5. You can also join us prior to the event at the Luck Lab for CHIFOOd. Have you ever wanted to send a hug from far away, automatically track your daily activity, or have your clothing correct your posture? What if your insulin delivery went from being a plastic shot in your pocket to a beautiful ring on your finger? How ubiquitous can pervasive technology really be? We will look at the rapidly changing future of wearable technology where health and wellness companies are early adopters. Wearable technology syncs with daily life so that we don’t simply think about our health when something hurts, but rather utilize the ever present technology to get and stay healthy. Notoriously unattractive medical devices are being slowly re-engineered into desirable artifacts to carry with pride. Janna will bring a working prototype and samples to interact with and discuss. With 20 years of experience in apparel and health related design, as well as 10 years working in technology, Janna brings a unique perspective of how these two seemingly disparate materials can continue to merge to create the ultimate user experience Presenter is Janna Kimel, Senior UX Researcher from Regence Group. Admission is free for CHIFOO members. Admission for non-members is $5. You can also join us prior to the event at the Lucky Lab for CHIFOOd.
