create Calagator::Event 1250474548 PDX Women in Tech (PDXWIT) Women + Tech Holiday Party Roll back

description nil ***Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdx-women-in-tech-pdxwit-women-tech-holiday-party-tickets-52328766750] is required to gain entry to this event *** Join us Friday, December 14th at p:ear for our 5th Annual Women + Tech Holiday Party, co-organized by PDXWIT and Women Who Code Portland and presented by Nike! 2018 has been another big year for the PDXWIT and Women Who Code Portland communities, and we are thrilled to come together, for the FIFTH year, to celebrate the holidays and what we’ve accomplished. The theme of the event will be Transforming Technology: Culture and Community. In honor of our theme, PDXWIT and Women Who Code Portland will be recognizing individuals for their great work over the year transforming the technology industry. PDXWIT will be honoring two individuals, Best Contributor and Best Speaker. If you or someone you know has been working hard to make PDXWIT a success or spoken at one of our events, please submit your nominations by November 20th. The Best Contributor award will be selected in advance by a panel, and finalists for the Best Speaker Award will perform runoff Lightning Talks at the Holiday Party. The winner will be selected by text-to-vote. Women Who Code regularly celebrates their members' achievements with the #ApplaudHer hashtag. The #ApplaudHer hashtag highlights victories such as accepting a new position, receiving a promotion, speaking at a conference or meeting a personal goal. The concept is simple: Women Who Code believes that recognition can create change and that rewriting public perceptions can transform tech. During the Women + Tech Holiday Party, Women Who Code will be announcing the Technical Leadership and Rising Tech Star award winners, chosen from the submissions received. Please submit your nominations before the end of day on December 1, 2018. While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short program to hear from our sponsors and introduce and announce awards. During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking: - an activity table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director. - table topics to help break the ice. - a section for job seekers and those hiring to ensure people get connected. - a #GiveGuide table with raffle prizes and other goodies for folks who decide to support PDXWIT that evening. Music will be provided by Claudia Martinez and DJ Mienne. create Calagator::Event 1250474547 Probabilistic programming from scratch w/ David Molina Roll back

description nil This month we'll focus a bit more on the 'programming' part of Probabilisitic Programming. First we'll have: Probabilistic programming from scratch Real world observational data is always imperfect or incomplete in some way. Those limitations mean that what we learn from our data is somewhat uncertain. We want to fill in the blanks to the extent possible and be able to say how confident we are as we do this. This is inference. Probabilistic programming makes it easier to learn from data. Let’s see how to build a basic probabilistic programming system from scratch in Python to introduce Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC), which is a specific, extremely simple algorithm to perform Bayesian inference. Bio: David is a Business Analyst and Software Developer with six years of corporate experience in building databases, managing and analyzing large data sets, and optimizing systems and processes. Machine Learning enthusiast focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and visual recognition. Then we'll introduce and discuss "An Introduction to Probabilistic Programming" https://arxiv.org/abs/1809.10756 and explore some of the concepts we've covered using Pyro http://pyro.ai

description nil NOTE: $15 for non-members / $5 for students. RSVP via Eventbrite, link on damapdx.org Presented by Melanie Mecca Director, Data Management Product and Services, CMMI Institute Data Management Maturity – Why We Need It and How It Can Propel You to DM Leadership Our industry is continually building capabilities based on its considerable accomplishments over the past decades. Some of the (roughly) sequential milestone markers that most organization share include: data design, data administration, data architecture / warehousing, data quality and governance, MDM, and predictive analytics using both structured and unstructured data. So why haven’t organizations attained DM perfection? As we know, the data layer in the vast majority of organizations grew project by project, typically to meet specific needs of a line of business. Best practices were not usually shared, useful work products languished in project repositories, etc. – and above all, there was no universal mandate to manage data as a critical corporate asset. The Data Management Maturity (DMM)SM Model’s primary goals are to accelerate organization-wide DM programs by: providing a sound reference model to quickly evaluate capabilities, strengths and gaps; accelerating business engagement; launching a collaborative vision / strategy; and identifying key initiatives to extend existing capabilities while building new ones – leading to efficiency, cost savings, creativity, and improved data quality. In this seminar, we’ll address: Data Management Capabilities and Maturity Evaluation The DMM in action – interactive exercise with the Business Glossary – rate your organization! create Calagator::Event 1250474533 Privacy and Data Protection Residents Rights initiative community engagement Roll back

description nil The City of Portland is pleased to invite you to our Privacy and Data Protection Residents Rights initiative community engagement on November 6th at 10 AM at the Old Church (1422 SW 11th Ave. Portland, OR 97201) The Bureau of Equity and Human Rights, the mayor’s office and Smart City PDX, are coordinating an internal work in the city to develop a list of Privacy and Data Protection Residents Rights for city services. We have invited Digital Privacy officials from the cities of Seattle and Oakland to help us with their expertise to facilitate this process. We are aiming to bring a first draft of that list of Privacy and Data Protection Rights to this two-hour community session, where we expect to have an interactive work with community members that are particularly involved with promoting digital equity and developing technological capacity. If the city of Portland passes a set of Privacy and Data Protection Residents Rights, it would be the first in the nation to step forward in creating a new level of understanding our communities in a data-rich society. Adopting privacy and data protection rights not only involves a deeper commitment from the city, but also greater community engagement and understanding of the responsibilities of owning your own data and the implications of that in people’s lives. Please, reserve your space using in the following link and join us in this discussion. we are looking forward to listening to your opinion and perspectives on these important issues: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3725271 The agenda will be publish on this site on November 5th:https://www.smartcitypdx.com/events/2018/11/6/community-engagement-session-on-privacy-and-data-protection-in-the-city-of-portland

Some of that could be Net Promoter Score (NPS) results, e-commerce data, community media verbatims, or other survey information. Learn what’s going on with NPS and other customer data to look at it from a product use perspective. Then see how to translate that into making changes to your product to better connect with customers, improve your value proposition, and make more revenue.</p> <p>Camila Morrison is a product manager in tech who has worked across a variety of areas in product management from concept/market/UX roles to managing a team in the development arena. Also in her experience, is running a Net Promoter System to drive improvements across the customer product lifecycle. She was in marketing management for companies that included utility control center software. Her background includes leading marketing research projects for tech, utility, transportation, ad/media, healthcare, retail, tourism, and non-profit industries.</p> <p>---</p> <p>The Product Manager Career Lifecycle<br>Mike Kruse, Product Manager</p> <p>After spending many years as a product manager in both large and small organizations, Mike would like to share the application of a tool we use in our day job to our career.</p> <p>Mike began in software development and fell into the product manager role – initially informally and then formally. He has worked in a number of B2B and B2C markets including graphics processors, networking systems, digital media, educational software and currently fintech. One item on his bucket list is to master all 37 activities on the Pragmatic framework or to visit all 50 states in the US.</p> <p>Mike is also one of the ProductCamp Portland co-founders, an annual product management un-conference that began in 2012. It provides him with the opportunity to create a new product every year and in doing so, apply a wide range of product management skills that he rarely gets to exercise.</p>
