create Calagator::Event 1250472665 Happy Startup School Roll back

description nil Welcome to the first meet up of the Happy Startup School's Portland Chapter! On 12 October we'll be hosting an intimate gathering of likeminded people that believe there's more to life and business than making money. Launched in the UK in 2012, The Happy Startup School has grown from a small meetup in London to a global community of purpose-driven founders, creatives and leaders that regularly gather to inspire each other and have the conversations that matter. They run experiences and programs that set people on the right path, where money and meaning meet. For our first event we are also lucky enough to have Laurence McCahill and Carlos Saba, founders of the Happy Startup School with us, as they pass through on their way to Alptitude USA – their week-long retreat for changemakers at Mount Hood that takes place October 15-22. They'll share their story, ask questions and get us all sharing ideas and learning from each other. Who's it for? Do you feel a compulsion to get a new project, product, app or service that you believe in, live and into the real world? Are you a skilled tech, design or marketing professional attracted to the energy of the startup scene? Or are you just super energised and excited to help someone bring their vision to the world? If so, come and join us for an evening of structured but agenda-less small group conversation. For those new to Lean coffee, it is a structured but agenda-less meeting. Participants gather, democratically choose the topic of discussion by vote, then get talking. Simples. There are dozens of Lean Coffee meetups happening across the world in places like Seattle, San Francisco, Toronto, Stockholm, Edinburgh, Brighton and now we can add Portland to that list. Who usually comes along? • budding startups • intrapreneurs • small business owners • one man bands • people with a passion for startups • ...and anyone who simply wants to learn, or create. Topics regularly discussed within small groups are: • productivity hacks • how to test an idea without having customers • building a 100% transparent company • pricing your services effectively • how to find designers/developers • how to choose the right product features • community building hacks • growth & content marketing ...but we welcome all sorts of startup, business and happiness related topics you might need help with. Look forward to seeing you there.

create Calagator::Event 1250472651 Podcast Unconference Roll back

description nil Don't be left out (again), because this sells out (again). Get your ticket today! The Portland Podcast Cooperative & Bigfoot Podcast Network hosted Portland’s first Podcast Unconference revolving around the theme of podcasting. This is the third one that attendees wanted, along with people that couldn't get tickets to the first one, because it sold out. Saturday October 14th, 9:30am-3:00pm NedSpace Broadway Regular Tickets: $35 Day of Event Tickets: (at the door): $50 The Event What you don’t need is another presentation, books, or itineraries planned months ahead of time. Instead, what we all really seek when coming to an event is personal value. The best and most meaningful memories come from when we walk away with thought provoking discussions, new relationships, and those do not happen while sitting in lecture. They happen in the discussions that go on amongst the attendees. The Goal The goal of this unconference is to bring forth the brightest minds in the community that feel strongly around the topic of podcasting in its many versions. Then from there, to open a new doorway for opportunities to connect and learn, all while having fun and making it what you want it to be. The Facilitator Megan O'Leary the Director of Member Services from OEN is going to facilitate the whole unconference event. A great experienced facilitator makes the event, so prepare yourself for a wonderful time. 9:30-10:00am Overview and group agenda setting 10:00-10:45am Session 1 10:45am-11:30pm Session 2 11:30pm-12:15pm Session 3 12:15-1:00pm LUNCH 1:00pm-1:45pm Session 4 1:45pm-2:30pm Session 5 2:30pm-3:00pm Closing remarks Lunch is included. Capiche. So, what exactly is an ‘Unconference?’ Think of this as an open conference that is driven by its participants. Unlike traditional conferences, an unconference (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference) allows for flexibility, open discussion, and debate, all fueled by its attendees. Innovative conversations with some of the brightest people, important purposes and tasks discussed without any formal agenda, and unplanned dialogue led by ultimately what peaks your interest most. Why attend? This is your chance to learn from others, seek out answers, and openly ask questions to what matters most to you. Come to build a collaborative network, establish partnerships, and be in a close community of people that value the same or similar topics of discussion. Open your awareness to new ideas for yourself or your business. Be exposed to new trends, latest issues, new projects, emerging businesses and tools.. Unconferences are proven to be highly productive for whatever issues people feel most strongly about. EXPECT fascinating questions, surprising results, inspiring quotes of laughter, and hard work. How Does it Work? Simple, we provide the theme — podcasting. When you arrive, we will kick off with an ice-breaker, introduce everyone, then break off into building the day's agenda around your needs, interests, and areas of expertise. The sessions will be broken up into 45-minute discussions and spaces are reserved for gatherings that happen throughout the day. Who should attend? If you took the time to read through all of this, then YOU! The event is open to anyone with an interest in the topic. The goal is to bring a diverse mix of individuals and professionals from all industries and stages of their podcast. Whether you’re a podcast producer, podcast talent, CEO, a startup founder, possible podcast maker with a new idea, or simply just have interest in the topic of podcasting, we welcome you to join us. All NedSpace events have a Code of Conduct which all participants, members, partners, visitors, vendors, guests must abide by.
