There will still be pizza, learning and networking with the fabulous PHP Community!**

Every decision we make in our projects has the potential to increase or reduce technical debt. Specializing in WordPress and application development he has worked with brands and organizations including Microsoft, TED, Xylem, Elmer’s, and Experience Columbus.

Steve has released numerous plugins in the WordPress.org repositories, including one from the grounds of The White House during the first annual National Day of Civic Hacking in 2013. description nil When it comes to your business, your network is the gateway to the world. Unfortunately, protecting your network from evolving threats is more difficult than ever. Device proliferation, BYOD, Internet of Things, virtualization, hybrid cloud adoption—all are crucial trends that enhance business performance. But they also add complexity and increase the attack surface. DNS is an essential component of network connectivity, but it has emerged as the number one threat vector for malware command and control, DDoS attacks, and data exfiltration. Even as your network modernizes and gains valuable new capabilities, threats multiply exponentially. During this session, learn more about DNS, threats to DNS infrastructure, and different methods to address these threats. Speaker bio: Kevin Zettel is a security-focused Technical Marketing Engineer who works with Infoblox to lock down the DNS and secure it for enterprises. Kevin knows that security is the center focus of companies and believes that without security, industries will unquestionably fall apart. Kevin has worked with the Infoblox Security Ecosystem to manage many security vendors such as McAfee, Cisco, ServiceNow, Aruba, and many others. He knows the security landscape and sees the necessity and demand that businesses have to secure their capital. With a degree from Central Washington University and an education in programming, Kevin has the technical know how to get secured.

description nil Looking to get started with Power BI? Bring your laptop to this hands-on tutorial on Microsoft Power BI. At this meeting of Office 365 PDX we’ll be talking about how end-users can get to work with Power BI. We're thinking of this class as a "Power BI Flight School", where we are teaching the basics of how end-users will navigate and use Power BI, not how to build or maintain complex reports. We will dive into viewing dashboards, reports, understanding natural language query, Excel, and the other tools a user needs. No prior experience with Power BI is necessary, this session is not very technical, and we’ll be handing out log-in information to get you hands-on in a pre-built environment. Just bring a modern laptop with wifi and an up-to-date web browser.

create Calagator::Event 1250474230 "Tungsten Fabric: Open Source Multi-Cloud Networking at Scale" @ PAzUG Roll back

description nil Tungsten Fabric (http://www.tungsten.io; formerly OpenContrail) is an open source, scalable and multi-cloud networking platform. Large enterprises and service providers are using it at massive production scale, and this meetup offers some tips, insights, and "don't go theres" from users with success stories (and some battle scars). Come to this meetup to learn how users are deploying Tungsten Fabric for load balancing, HA, service chaining, analytics/orchestration and extending network to multi private / public clouds viz., AWS, Azure and Google. Sanju Abraham will be our speaker. Sanju Abraham will deliver a project overview, showcase users and use cases. Then, we’ll dive into a demo of Kubernetes with Tungsten Fabric across onprem and AWS. We’ll demonstrate the ability to access Kubernetes and launch new containers, access the Tungsten Fabric UI, and observe the network state. Tungsten Fabric is integrated with Kubernetes, VMware and OpenStack. It also supports public cloud deployments including AWS, Google and Azure. As both Enterprise and Telco IT architectures evolve, supporting multi-cloud environments is table stakes. This meetup will lay out how users can quickly get going with Tungsten Fabric, using software-driven networking and policy management to operate in a multi-cloud environment. If you’re interested in networking for private clouds running OpenStack, Kubernetes, and VMware that also rely on services from AWS, Google and Azure, this meetup is for you! Agenda: 5:00pm – Welcome time 5:30pm – Catering served 5:45pm – Group announcements and presentation 7:30pm – Wrap up. PLEASE RSVP ON THE MEETUP PAGE

create Calagator::Event 1250474227 September PMI Agile Round Table - NEW DAY, NEW TIME, GOING VIRTUAL Roll back

description nil The PMI Agile Roundtable provides a forum for exchanging ideas, techniques and real world experiences (good and bad) in managing agile projects. This round table alternates between speakers and specific topics (watch Twitter and LinkedIn for details), traditional brainstorming and voting on 2 to 3 focus topics from the group, and a new online Lean Coffee format we are eager to try out. Although sponsored by PMI, all roles and backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to participate / debate. We value the variety of perspectives and levels of experience with agile practices. This month the round table is in transition to a virtual forum that will provide more flexibility for attendees. As a group, we'll be discussing what we want from from a forum such as this; we'll look at the Lean Coffee Table tool for managing lean coffee sessions and (if time is available) selecting agile-related topics / issues. Come join us and help us create and develop an agile community focused on providing value. Note: PMI Certification holders can claim 1 PMI PDU for attending this event (email address and name needed for PMI verification)

No scheduled talks are planned beforehand by the organizers, making the range of talks and topics covered each year entirely unique. Timeslots are posted in an accessible place and the attendants are given (fairly) free reign to post and choose which talks they would like to attend or give. We only ask that topics be respectful and PG-rated. The CAT at PSU is an ops training organization that has secured the venue and is organizing the event. We expect many job-hungry students skilled in development, computer science, operations, and everything else to be in attendance at this event and we want to enable as many connections as possible. In 2017, Deb co-founded Curiate.co to help people cultivate the quality, profile and value of design in their organizations through workshops, embedded consulting and tailored coaching. create Calagator::Event 1250474223 PDX Women in Tech (PDXWIT) Value by Design Roll back

description nil ***Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdx-women-in-tech-pdxwit-value-by-design-tickets-50078626520] is required to gain entry to this event *** While many of us agree with IBM CEO Thomas Watson Jr.’s famous declaration that “good design is good business,” we often struggle to be able to prove it. As a systems thinker, Deb Mrazek has developed an array of frameworks, tools, and platforms to leverage the power of design and systems thinking at project, group, organizational and global levels, bridging the language of design and the language of business. She has authored and presented on the topic of Design Value for over 10 years, including co-authoring the seminal article “The DMI Design Value Scorecard: A New Design Measurement and Management Model.” In 2015, she was recognized by the Design Management Institute for her contributions to the design industry about Design Value. In 2017, Deb co-founded Curiate.co to help people cultivate the quality, profile and value of design in their organizations through workshops, embedded consulting and tailored coaching. She believes that only by bridging the language and thinking of business and design can the true value of design truly be realized. Agenda: 5:30 p.m. - Doors open 6 p.m. - Introduction and any PDXWIT announcements 6:10 p.m. - Presentation 6:40 p.m.- Q&A 7 PM - 7:30 p.m. - Open time to network Event FAQ: Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms? A: Yes. Q: Is the space ADA accessible? A: Yes. Q: Will there be food and drink at this event? A: Yes. Q: What is the parking situation? A: We do have paid parking in the building, the entrance is on Taylor St. between 6th Ave and Broadway on the right side of the street. There are several other pay garages nearby as well. Q: Is there any special information that might help me find the entrance? A: The main entrance to the building is on 6th Ave and there is a secondary entrance on Broadway to the left of Ruth’s Chris Steak House (this entrance does have stairs once you are inside the building). All guests will need to come to the 8th floor reception area to sign in for the event. Q: Is there secure bike parking? A: There is bike parking outside at the entrance of the building, but it is not secured, it is a rack on the transit mall. Please note that bikes can not be brought into the office for storage. Q: Should I consider using public transportation? A: We always recommend public transportation when possible as we are on the transit mall on 6th Ave. Q: Can I bring my dog? A: No, we ask that you leave your furry friend home. Purpose: PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome.
