* Demonstrate how he designs a widget
* Show off a printing like a pro (which Michael insists he is not)

Bug Bounty Programs
Bug bounties have become increasingly popular as a staple of strong security programs, so much so that even traditionally conservative companies are beginning to use them. However, they are very difficult to implement correctly. In this talk I will discuss a brief history of bug bounties, the current landscape of bug bounty efficiency (including statistics from the programs of small, medium and large companies) and how to optimize a program for success.
Speaker: Dylan Saccomanni
Dylan Saccomanni is a software security engineer with six years of experience in penetration testing and vulnerability research. He has found and disclosed security vulnerabilities in large companies like GoDaddy and Microsoft, and before working at Simple he ran a security consultancy catering to Series A tech startups.

If you use technology in your day to day operations (and who doesn't), join us on the morning of Wednesday, April 6th for its first of four events on mitigating the risks of business impacts through cybersecurity. Network with peers, learn from subject matter experts and walk away with the foundation for an incident response framework for yourself and your organization.
Our four-part series will include:
-alignment to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
-guidance from Cybersecurity subject matter experts - representing both private and public sectors
-individual support for customizing an incident response framework for you/your organization
-connectivity to peers in a safe environment for building a scalable plan that will positively impact your entire organization
This event is the kickoff to a four-part series hosted by the Tech Leadership Community around the topic of Cybersecurity. Each event will provide building blocks to help guide a do-it-yourself incident response framework for your team and entire organization. Whether you attend one event by yourself, bring your peers to the entire series, or any other combination, the subject matter experts selected for each event will provide individual guidance on the final framework for you/your company.

## Automation for Mobile Devices with Calabash by Shannon Atkinson
Using Calabash for automation for both iOS and Android applications can be frustrating and difficult. This talk will focus around using a Cucumber/Ruby/Calabash to formulate a single GIT repo for testing both iOS and Android apps with the same test cases.
## Embracing --api by Mitch Lloyd
It's hard to beat the productivity of Rails in the hands of an experienced developer. But what happens when user expectations drag your server-rendered application into the tortured hellscape of client-side JavaScript?
JavaScript creeps into your once beautiful code base: a typeahead search field, a client-side validation, an AJAX-powered star rating widget. This pathogen has no unit tests and causes the number of bugs and Selenium tests to grow.
In this talk I'll explore why companies that resist client-side rendering still ship 350KB of gzipped JavaScript to their users. With examples I'll argue that there is a better way: separating your API from your client code. This approach that I once reserved for "highly interactive" applications, I now consider "a matter of course". For the majority of applications it leads to faster development, simpler architecture, and more flexible approaches for building and deploying UI.
After presentations we'll have more socializing time.

Gabriella Coleman is a cultural anthropologist who holds the Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Technological Literacy at McGill University in Canada. She researches, writes, and teaches on computer hackers and digital activism. She is the author of Coding Freedom: The Ethics and Aesthetics of Hacking as well as Hacker, Hoaxer, Whistleblower, Spy: The Many Faces of Anonymous, winner of the 2015 Diana Forsythe Prize by The American Anthropological Association's Committee on the Anthropology of Science, Technology and Computing. The Cheron Mayhall Lecture series features thought-provoking speakers who are invited to present iconoclastic yet feasible ideas on hot-button contemporary topics. Traditional metrics can give an incomplete or misleading view of how well a team is actually delivering.

After a review of our previous meeting about the basics of Data Visualization (Dec. 2012) we will explore some of the more complex issues of expressing complex business behavior in graphic form. You do not need to have attended the basics presentation to get value from this advanced presentation.
Included in this session are the five basic chart types, along with topics of normalization and the importance of context. We will then look at more advanced concepts for the expression of metrics (such as cartograms, step functions, metrics which go negative, non-linear scales, and lineage charts). We will discuss the importance of understanding volatility in a metric, and the expression of uncertainty and ambiguity.
Rankings can be misleading; we will show how. Tree maps are useful, but heat maps can be dangerous. We may look at using scatter diagrams to evaluate the correlation of market indexes. If we have time, we will look at the expression of non-metric ideas, including VENN diagrams.

Michael Scofield, M.B.A. is an Asst. Professor of Health Informatics at Loma Linda University. His experience includes banking, manufacturing, higher education, and software development. For the past 17 years he has spoken widely to professional audiences around the U.S., Canada, and Australia and the U.K. on topics of data management, data visualization, data quality assessment, and data acquisition.
Michael has spoken several times for the Portland DAMA chapter, and before 23 other DAMA chapters around the country. He has numerous articles published on these same topics, particularly on data quality assessment.

After a review of our previous meeting about the basics of Data Visualization (Dec. 2012) we will explore some of the more complex issues of expressing complex business behavior in graphic form. You do not need to have attended the basics presentation to get value from this advanced presentation.
Included in this session are the five basic chart types, along with topics of normalization and the importance of context. We will then look at more advanced concepts for the expression of metrics (such as cartograms, step functions, metrics which go negative, non-linear scales, and lineage charts). We will discuss the importance of understanding volatility in a metric, and the expression of uncertainty and ambiguity.
Rankings can be misleading; we will show how. Tree maps are useful, but heat maps can be dangerous. We may look at using scatter diagrams to evaluate the correlation of market indexes. If we have time, we will look at the expression of non-metric ideas, including VENN diagrams.
<h3>About the Speaker</h3>
Michael Scofield, M.B.A. is an Asst. Professor of Health Informatics at Loma Linda University. His experience includes banking, manufacturing, higher education, and software development. For the past 17 years he has spoken widely to professional audiences around the U.S., Canada, and Australia and the U.K. on topics of data management, data visualization, data quality assessment, and data acquisition.
Michael has spoken several times for the Portland DAMA chapter, and before 23 other DAMA chapters around the country. He has numerous articles published on these same topics, particularly on data quality assessment.
