Confessions of an Entrepreneur with Jesse Rosenzweig - Co-Founder and CTO of Elemental Technologies
Roll back
| description |
Elemental Technologies is one of Portland’s biggest start-up successes. Founded in 2006 by Sam, Brian, and Jesse, Elemental was acquired for a reported $287M nine years later by AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services company. But on the way there, they learned a lot about start-ups and would say some things worked out really well but they would have done some things differently, too. Come hear Jesse speak about lessons learned, and tell a few stories of the journey.
Jesse brings a deep background in video systems and software to AWS Elemental where he leads the software and applications developments teams. As a software applications engineer at Pixelworks, he played a critical role in bringing numerous complex customer designs into production. Jesse was a core architect for the clean-slate development of Pixelworks' next-generation System Development Kit (SDK), the real-time operating system that powers all Pixelworks ImageProcessor ICs. He managed and contributed to many successful products at Pixelworks, including the digital television SDK that drives all Pixelworks-based digital televisions today. Prior to Pixelworks, Jesse held software engineering positions at Qualcomm and Ericsson. He earned a B.S. in computer science from the University of Colorado, Boulder and has been recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of forty outstanding leaders under forty. Jesse enjoys spending his free time exploring rivers and mountains and is at home in the elements. |

5:00 – 6:30 PM – Session #1 – The focus is on describing ReliaSoft software and how each module of their software fits into a project of bringing a proposed product design to market. Examples of use of the various modules. The instructor for both sessions is Dr. Umur Yenal representing HBM Prenscia | www.hbmprenscia.com | Tucson, AZ.
Dr. Umur Yenal is a Technologist with HBM Prenscia. He is involved in the delivery of training seminars and consulting projects in the field of Reliability and Quality Engineering, as well the development of ReliaSoft software products. He holds a MSc degree from the Technical University of Denmark and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona. Previously, he worked as a post-doctorate research associate and as a test manager at the University of Arizona. His areas of interest include system reliability, life data analysis, accelerated life testing and reliability block diagrams.
6:30 – 7:00 PM – Break for Meal & Section News | Pizza and soft drinks.
7:00 – 8:30 PM – Session #2 - The focus is on one or more case studies including a printed circuit board product as an example product. <p>There will be food and participation, so bring a computer!</p> <p>PHP TestFest seeks to create more PHP core contributors by introducing PHP programmers to the PHP language test suite, teaching them how to write phpttests. From September through December, 2017, groups worldwide will meet physically or virtually to learn how to write and contribute phpt tests. You don’t have to be a C genius—in fact, you don’t need to know C at all to contribute.<a href="https://phptestfest.org/start/#fn:phpcore">1</a> If you can write a few lines of PHP, you can write a phpt test.</p> <p>PHP TestFest wouldn’t be complete without prizes. We’re still working out the details, so we’ll announce prizes and how to win them soon.</p> <p>This kick-off meeting will be a mini-hackathon which will include information on setting up your environment and how to write and contribute phpt tests. We'll be able to continue working on our test together in the slack channel and at other meetups, so you'll want to get started with us now!!!</p> |
