PDX TechCeleration '24
Roll back
description |
First and foremost, we promote an environment of sharing and caring, rather than competition, hoarding of resources, fear, ego, power and control over others. You see, one of our pet peeves (the producers of the show) is that most gatekeepers in the business world that can help you, only do help those who are already successful or well on their way. That leaves up-and-coming entrepreneurs largely on their own, fighting for scraps.
Super connectors
We change that dynamic with a team of designated super connectors, identifiable by their specially-colored badges and lanyards. These are people who not only have large networks and love making connections, but some of them are masters at creating high impact ideas and packaging them with the assets needed to bring them to fruition – especially introductions. And I don’t mean basic needs, like a website designer or a branding professional, but strategic initiatives such as creating information products, amplifying your brand with subject matter expertise/endorsements, setting up strategic partnerships, franchising, or licensing your intellectual property.
Underpinning that system of sharing is one singularly powerful idea: As you build your dream, it builds you. With better training, resources, connections and mindset, you become what your business needs: a builder of great companies. And TechCeleration is the central meeting place – like a refueling station for your supplies and spirit – that expedites your entrepreneurial journey.
To lay the groundwork, we all know that turning dreams into reality begins with education and mindset. So our speakers and content are carefully chosen to take entrepreneurs through a foundational curriculum – informal as it is – of root-level skills and understandings that empower your entrepreneurial effectiveness. However, most don’t know what they need, and don’t have the confidence in themselves (yet) to ask for it. So we just hand it to you. All you have to do is embrace it and not let go.
From the best teachers come your most valuable lessons
How to build profits into your business from Day One is one example.
Finding and proclaiming what makes your business different and special is a third business power tool that helps you dominate your market.
Understanding how others think in order to get agreement and buy-in, while avoiding conflict and misunderstandings is another.
And learning how to finance your dreams is must-know material for every business builder.
Yet, the best lessons are not academic
Through the event, you get to practice skills such as clarity of thought and direction, speaking the language of capital, and the power of request. We exercise those muscles throughout so you leave with more powerful communication skills as your new normal. Incredible example: Hear the astounding difference that language can make in its impact with the listener: https://pdxtechceleration.com/instant-capital-language-makeovers-with-berny-dohrmann/. Another difference-maker for modern humans: You’ll learn about the imperceptible influences all around you that upset your biology and drain you of energy and brainpower, and how you can protect yourself.
Instructors will meet with you
Like an all-you-can-eat buffet, we bring in only instructors that are willing to share what they know and help wherever they can, instead of those big-name speakers that get you pumped up, they walk off stage, and you never see them again (except maybe get a picture or two). For this, our instructors are asked to be available as much as they can for questions and one-on-one consultations. They’ll lead meal tables and special interest huddles where everyone shares (and practices) their elevator pitch and needs requests, thus expanding everyone’s ability to help each other (like a rising tide that lifts all ships).
Gather resources at the expo
Adding fuel to the fire, there’s a big break in the middle for an expo of service providers, sponsors, resources and speakers. It’s a target-rich environment to acquire resources crucial to your survival and thrival. Many are one powerfully-stated request away from being yours. That means you don’t have to dig too hard to hit pay dirt at TechCeleration; much of what you need is in the room for the asking – either in-person, or by referral.
Night networking
Even better: When school’s out for the day the real fun begins, because we study by day and apply those lessons at night. The venue is the perfect environment for meeting still more well-connected individuals, and deepening the connections formed during the day. That’s why Life Time is bringing in their mobile bar for an evening of power networking, special interest huddles, mood-making music, and private presentations. If you’ve never experienced this sort of energy, it is absolutely electric – which isn’t wishful thinking on our part. It’s a proven concept because we’re simply re-creating the camaraderie of another event that provided exactly this type of party-with-a-purpose atmosphere. You won’t want to leave there’s so many ‘good people to know’, in a mood to help you as much as they can.
Private presentations
But what makes TechCeleration enriching beyond mere assets, information and motivation is that we teach you how to raise capital during the day, and rent out conference rooms where people can hold private, invitation-only presentations or workshops by night. We call it we learn by day, and earn investor interest at night. That means investors and key people will be in the room. However, the majority of angels like to keep a low profile. So they circulate throughout the day, get to know others in anonymity, and observe how founders carry themselves – then decide if they want to do business with that person.
It’s a perfect way to see behind the social facade and find the people you resonate with, before you consider doing business together. Huge bonus: Investors can observe how founders perform in social situations – a huge indicator of future success, thus key in establishing trust. While, on the other hand, business builders can observe how prospective investors treat others when their guard is down (my advice: don’t accept money from horrible people; you often regret it).
Experiential training for future fund raisers
Private presentations are also the best experiential training for future fund-raisers, just by sitting in on pitches, hearing the language, getting a feel for their structure and flow, and observing investor reactions and concerns. This gets you comfortable making your own presentations or requests, asking for money, believing you deserve it, and receiving in abundance. You’ve done your homework and reps, and people can feel it. It starts with the language, builds through experience, and presents as confidence and competence.
Disclaimer: Offers to sell securities are prohibited at the event. If there is mutual interest in an investment opportunity, you need to meet after the event.
Special interest huddles
While private presentations are going on, special interest huddles are a place to find mentors that are years ahead of you in making mistakes, learning from them, and amassing deep pools of resources. These people don’t attend many lower-level events such as local Meetups, because the talent is so thin at most of them that they don’t get much value for their time – not to mention potentially being mobbed by hungry masses looking for a handout. Visit any of our special interest huddles to find mentors, connect with your tribe, workshop your problems and opportunities, or just talk shop.
A-Game players have reason to come too
On the other hand, TechCeleration raises the level of talent and experience in the room by giving high fliers a reason to come: people at or above their level. They get leverage and benefits too. From first-class instructors to facilitators to experienced startup founders, help is then available for up-and-comers who are ready to make rapid progress. Again, not speculation. We are inviting successful food company founders to lead huddles, as one example, to help those who have the will, but don’t yet have the way. Winning in business can’t be easier. Just think, wouldn’t it be so nice to give and receive in an environment where value is exchanged freely, used, and actually appreciated?
Imagine the possibilities
As night networking begins, the aperture of your consciousness is open full-throttle like you’re on AZT from Limitless. To capitalize on the heightened cognition, companies of all kinds can hold creative retreats to problem solve or work on their long-term plans. Then the team goes out and harvests the ideas and resources needed to make it happen. Come back twice a year and you have a real program – a defined mechanism – to systematize growth and breakthroughs in your business. Think: remote teams meeting in a dynamic environment twice a year to synchronize their efforts.
PDX TechCeleration: The place where $h!π happens
Using leverage points like these, Super Saturday is prime time for parties to meet and form the relationships needed to produce big wins. It’s like a deal hub – that we’re intentionally facilitating. No joke folks, PDX TechCeleration is the place where ideas flood your consciousness, your network expands rapidly, progress is made toward your goals, deals get done, and you walk away a more effective businessperson… ruined for lesser events and stoked to do it again. (Though you do have to be in a mental mode to give and receive, as no one can do it for you.) It’s all about the principles of the space, and the quality of the people you meet, that up-leverage your efforts.
Leverage gives you power
I mean that’s what TechCeleration is all about: leverage. We help you find leverage points throughout your business and apply them to maximum effect, using minimal effort. It’s what big, successful companies do well to get where they’re going: leverage their ideas, capital, partnerships, employees, time, strategies, systems and processes, intellectual property, reputation, customer needs, market timing, passion, access to raw materials, control over markets, and ultimately their brand. I could go on, but you get the point: Leverage is what gets you more results and better results, more easily and more quickly. If you, and your team, want successes to come without a lot of friction and failures along the way, you need to have a leverage mindset, and master its use through habit. To put it more simply, TechCeleration = leverage.
Bottom line
If you want more easy wins (for a change) because the environment is catalyzing synergies and collaboration… if this sounds like your happy place… you won’t want to miss TechCeleration ‘24. Get your tickets early and we can make it even better. Click the link above to see prices and reserve your ticket(s) today. Prices start at $79 in January (General Admission), and go up to $199, the day of (assuming we’re not sold out). Total tickets are limited to 350 for General Admission, 50 VIP Access, and 15 Teen, in addition to volunteers and exhibitor staff (maybe 50-100).
Considering coming in from out of town?
In case you were wondering if it’s worth coming in from out of town to join us, the answer is ‘yes’, it will be. We’ve secured remarkable rates at the coolest hotel in Beaverton, The AC Hotel. And we’re helping coordinate carpools from Bend, Seattle, Eugene, and maybe Northern California to make the event as convenient and affordable as possible. In any case, it’s a better-than national-level event at a local price. Plus, a full satisfaction guarantee is in effect. Just after the halfway point (after you’ve eaten lunch), if you don’t feel the event is for you, we’ll refund your entire admission price, no questions asked. Book now for best prices.

Climate Curious judges PSU Cleantech Challenge

Happy 2024! We're kicking off the year with such a cool activity: serving as judges for the semi-finals of PSU's Cleantech Challenge. This student-led pitch competition is run by the school's Center for Entrepreneurship, an incredible organization that has swiftly become near and dear to the hearts of many in the Climate Curious flock.
The ask is simple - just bring your passion for climate innovation, your ears, and your phone. You'll listen to students pitch ideas for businesses and products they'd like to build, and give live feedback about what you think is really working best with each idea. At the end, we'll vote for the ones we think have the most potential and the top students will advance to the final round.
That may sound familiar to those who joined us last year. BUT WAIT - this year there's a new twist. As mentorship sponsors of the Cleantech Challenge, we'll be asking Climate Curious members to volunteer to advise the student teams that advance to the finals. This is a phenomenal opportunity for us to support the creators of Portland's climate future. We'll share more info about what mentorship will look like at the event, so for now, just put this thought in your back pocket so it starts to feel comfy.
So please help us get the word out about this one, and consider sharing a few hours of your time to enrich future climate innovators. Let's pack the audience and support PSU students! |

PDX TechCeleration '24
Roll back
description |
First and foremost, we promote an environment of sharing and caring, rather than competition, hoarding of resources, fear, ego, power and control over others. You see, one of our pet peeves (the producers of the show) is that most gatekeepers in the business world that can help you, only do help those who are already successful or well on the way. That leaves up-and-coming entrepreneurs largely on their own, fighting for scraps.
We change that dynamic with a team of designated connectors, identifiable by their specially-colored badges and lanyards. These are people who not only have large networks and love making connections, but some of them are masters at creating high impact ideas and packaging them with the assets needed to bring them to fruition – especially introductions. And I don’t mean basic needs, like a website designer or branding professional, but strategic initiatives such as creating information products, amplifying your brand with subject matter expertise/endorsements, setting up strategic partnerships, franchising, or licensing your intellectual property.
From the best teachers come your most valuable lessons:
• How to build profits into your business from Day One is one example.
• Finding and proclaiming what makes your business different and special is a third business power tool that helps you dominate your market.
• Understanding how others think in order to get agreement and buy-in, while avoiding conflict and misunderstandings is another.
• And learning how to finance your dreams is must-know material for every business builder.
Yet, the best lessons are not academic. Through the event, you get to practice skills such as clarity of thought and direction, speaking the language of capital, and the power of request. We exercise those muscles throughout so you leave with more powerful communication skills as your new normal.
While, on the other hand, business builders can observe how prospective investors treat others when their guard is down (my advice: don’t accept money from horrible people).
Disclaimer: Offers to sell securities are prohibited at the event. If there is mutual interest in an investment opportunity, you need to meet after the event.
Winning in business can’t be any easier. Just think, wouldn’t it be so nice to give and receive in an environment where value is exchanged freely, used, and actually appreciated?
Now can you imagine the possibilities: As night networking begins, the aperture of your consciousness is slammed open like you’re on AZT from Limitless.
Bottom line: If you want more easy wins (for a change) because the environment is catalyzing synergies and collaboration… if this sounds like your happy place… you won’t want to miss TechCeleration ‘24. Get your tickets early and we can make it even better. Click the link above to see prices and reserve your ticket(s) today. Graduated, then progressive pricing, is in effect. Total tickets are limited to 350 for General Admission, 50 VIP Access, and 15 Teen, in addition to exhibitor staff (maybe 50-100).
And, in case you were wondering if it’s worth coming in from out of town to join us, the answer is ‘yes’, it will be. We’ve secured remarkable rates at the coolest hotel in Beaverton.

You’ll learn about the imperceptible influences all around you that upset your biology and drain you of energy and brainpower, and how you can protect yourself.
While, on the other hand, business builders can observe how prospective investors treat others when their guard is down (my advice: don’t accept money from horrible people).
Disclaimer: Offers to sell securities are prohibited at the event. If there is mutual interest in an investment opportunity, you need to meet after the event.
While private presentations are going on, special interest huddles are a place to find mentors that are years ahead of you in making mistakes, learning from them, and amassing deep pools of resources. On the other hand, TechCeleration raises the level of talent and experience in the room by giving high fliers a reason to come: people at or above their level. They get leverage and benefits too. And I don’t mean basic needs, like a website designer or branding professional, but strategic initiatives such as creating information products, amplifying your brand with subject matter expertise/endorsements, setting up strategic partnerships, franchising, or licensing your intellectual property.
You’ll learn about the imperceptible influences all around you that upset your biology and drain you of energy and brainpower, and how you can protect yourself.
While, on the other hand, business builders can observe how prospective investors treat others when their guard is down (my advice: don’t accept money from horrible people).
These people don’t attend many lower-level events such as local Meetups, because the talent is so thin at most of them that they don’t get much value for their time – not to mention potentially being mobbed by hungry masses looking for a handout.
Winning in business can’t be any easier. Just think, wouldn’t it be so nice to give and receive in an environment where value is exchanged freely – and actually appreciated?
Now can you imagine the possibilities: As night networking begins, the aperture of your consciousness is slammed open like you’re on AZT from Limitless.
Bottom line: If you want more easy wins (for a change) because the environment is catalyzing synergies and collaboration… if this sounds like your happy place… you won’t want to miss TechCeleration ‘24. Get your tickets early and we can make it even better. Click the button below to see prices and reserve your ticket(s) today.

We're very excited to welcome you to the Portland C++ User's Group (PDXCPP) meetup! Join us in downtown Portland to hobnob, learn,
and share with other Modern C++ enthusiasts! Bring your C++ questions,
stories of coding adventure, and tales of debugger derring-do!
This month, we will be meeting at the Lucky Labrador Brewpub on SE Hawthorne.
NOTE: We're not really meant to be a "bar group", as kind as the folks at Lucky Lab have been. We are seeking a suitable small venue space, preferably with whiteboards and projectors. If your company is interested in hosting our group, please contact us!

PDX Web & Design - Monthly Happy Hour
Roll back

If you're like me, you spend WAYYYY too much time in front of a computer. I think it would be great to have a monthly get together at a bar or pub to just get to know each other, have a brew, and yes, talk about the business. Real human interaction, in other words. Repeats the last Tuesday of every month.
Starting September 24th we will be changing venues to Romtoms, on the east side of the bridge at Burnside and 6th St. We hope there will be more room and it will be easier to find the rest of us. We look forward to seeing everyone.
If you can't find us inside look for us out in the back we may be enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful open patio. |

Hacking a SaaS: A Practical Guide to Understanding Attackers and Defending Against Them
In this talk, we will delve into the mindset of an attacker and explore the vulnerabilities they exploit in SaaS systems. We will cover the following topics:
What motivates hackers to target SaaS systems (5%)
How hackers conduct reconnaissance on SaaS systems (50%)
The anatomy of exploit chains (40%)
Strategies for defending against attacks (5%)
Our goal is to provide a practical guide to understanding attackers and defending against them. We will share lots of hacker tips and tricks, and provide plenty of quiz moments to train your intuition. Our focus will be on vulnerabilities that hackers actually care about, rather than theoretical ones. All of our examples will be based on real-world exploit chains, and we will explore multiple vulnerabilities chained together to create media-news-headline-worthy outcomes. By the end of this talk, you will have a better understanding of how attackers think and operate, and you will be better equipped to defend against their attacks.
Our January host and sponsor is Solutional Inc, and the talk will take place in their Portland office at 301 SE 2nd Ave.
Please RSVP here if you are planning to attend.
This is a monthly event of OWASP's Portland chapter. |
