To Be Decided
This event is free and is at our new location, Puppet Labs. It begins at 6:30 pm with pizza, sponsored by PNSQC (Many thanks to both Puppet Labs and PNSQC for supporting agile in Portland).
The program starts at 7:00 pm.
After the program you're invited to join us for a no-host gathering at a nearby brewpub for further discussion.

Being a ScrumMaster is not a role for the faint of heart. Effective ScrumMasters use a combination of natural talent, common sense, insight, observation technique, and--well, let's admit it, luck to help teams sustainably use Scrum to reliably deliver business value. But the standard two-day training course doesn't fully prepare us for what lies ahead.
In this talk, subtitled, "What I Wish I Knew Before I Became a ScrumMaster," experienced and newer ScrumMasters(or anyone who wants to help a team succeed and deliver) discover and share non-obvious insights into what a ScrumMaster can do to help their teams grow into great teams -- and learn a valuable technique.
This event is free and is at our new location, Puppet Labs. It begins at 6:30 pm with pizza, sponsored by PNSQC (Many thanks to both Puppet Labs and PNSQC for supporting agile in Portland).

Writing Effective Agile Use Cases
Roll back
| description |

When written well, use cases can effectively convey subtle user-system interactions. This hands-on workshop shows you how to “lighten up” use cases, write them just-in-time and use them to communicate essential system behaviors.
This workshop gives you the hands-on experience and builds the skills you will require to effectively write use cases for an agile environment.
<b>In this hands-on workshop you will learn:</b>
* How to effectively write use cases for agile development
* How to “tune” written descriptions to meet project specific needs
* How to break a use case into user stories and incrementally track their implementation
* Agile usability techniques—personas, Wizard of OZ prototyping
* Incremental writing—adding details when they matter
* How to write acceptance tests for use cases
* To relate use cases to features, business policies, and UI prototypes
This workshop benefits User Experience Designers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and Developers who will learn how to quickly write usage descriptions and integrate them with user prototypes and mock-ups. This workshop also benefits Business Analysts who still need to write requirements but want to “lighten” them up. Developers will benefit from knowing when to ask for usage descriptions and how to review them for “miracle” system powers.

Portland Java User Group

This month's topic: Using GWT to write iPhone Web Apps in Java
For the Java coder, GWT is currently as close as it gets to a multi-platform solution for web apps. After a quick GWT review, we will code about in the world of web apps you can run on your desktop and mobile phone, written in Java. This will be a superview presentation touching on GWT, GWT mobile libs and HTML5.
----------
Speaker: Jon Batcheller
Jon is one of the founders of PJUG, writing Java apps since 1995. He has written Java programs for a wide variety of applications from IC Design, circuit board layout, hardware/software co-design, assisted living facilit management, to a POS system for the two bars he owns.
----------
PJUG meetings start with some time to eat and socialize (pizza and beverages are provided), followed by the featured speaker, then Q&A, discussion, sometimes a drawing to give away swag. :)
Though we like knowing how many people to expect, you don't *have* to RSVP, on Upcoming or otherwise. Go ahead and just show up!
Many people also go for a drink and further discussion following the meeting, at a location determined ad hoc (lately, Trees restaurant in the same building).

PLUG Advanced Topics April Meeting
IPv6 Networking with Ted Mittelstaedt: Part 1
The first in a multi-part series on IPv6 networking by Ted Mittelstaedt, the author of The FreeBSD Corporate Networker's Guide.
Part 1: Theory & management & ISP routing, as well as current events in the IPv6 realm. For example, did you know that Nortel just sold Microsoft a huge chunk of IPv4 legacy addresses for something like 7 million dollars? This has really turned the tables on the game. Up until that happened the thought in the community was that the large ISP's would be the biggest pushers of IPv6 deployment. But this is an early indicator of what's going to happen. The large ISPs are going to spend millions in vacuuming every scrap of IPv4 out of all the corners on the Internet before they will start pushing their users to go to IPv6. That is a serious problem for any small ISP that does not have a stock of IPv4 because they will be run out of numbers and new customers will not be interested in their IPv6 offerings as long as the large ISPs still are handing IPv4 out.
Where: Free Geek, 1731 SE 10th Avenue
When: TUESDAY, April 19th, 7PM
BYO Food and Beverages
Sorry for the late announcement. Tax day distracted quite a few of us.

<p>This event is follow-on from the Windows Phone 7 Unleashed Events that were held last fall. The format is less structured, and more hands-on. Whether you need help developing, architecting, pricing, integrating ads, or are just getting started, this is the place to be. Our primary goal is to help you get your app ready and submitted to the marketplace. Weâre happy to share lessons learned from our own experiences (e.g. Alchemy and Soak Your Head). If you find yourself to have been inspired by MIX and just want to get together and hack a cool app, weâre more than happy to jump in and help you with that as well.</p>
<p>This is the place to be, whether you're new and want to learn, or want the latest info on what's coming in the "Mango" release.</p>
<p>NOTE: Devices will be available for testing your apps.<br />NOTE: A light lunch and snacks will be provided.</p>
