Alternative to PDX Weekly Hackathon.
Come hang out and write code in a quieter, less crowded environment with your fellow nerds.
The meetings are extremely informal, and everyone is welcome!
The place is smaller, so finding the nerd herd shouldn't be too difficult. |

Summer Social & Lightning Talks
Roll back
| description |
<p>It's been a crazy half year in the web world. Lots of new standards taking hold, lots of new services, tools, and methodologies have popped up. Time to kick back and wrap out collective heads around just what's been going on.</p>
<p>This will be a series of <strong>lightning talks</strong> - or <em>5 minute talks</em> about whatever you wish to talk about. It can be anything, such as: a tool you like to use... a design philosophy... a business idea you want to pitch... a story of when you were a boy raised by wolves; whatever you feel like sharing. Just let me know, there are only 12 slots available. Email me if you want to present. Anyone who signs up and presents will get a gift (I'm not sure what yet, but something nice).</p>
<p>This is also a <strong>potluck</strong>, so please bring something (dessert, chips, drinks... whatever you like to eat). You can still come even if you don't present or bring anything. All are welcome as always!</p>
<p>We've had a couple of these in the past, and many people claim it's their favorite event. It's very low stress and fun gathering... far more open and social than our structured talks.</p>
<p>So, let's grill some hotdogs (and vegi-dogs), crack open some root beer, and trade some stories!</p> |

Personal Telco Project Weekly Meeting
Roll back
| description |

Personal Telco is a collection of individuals, businesses, and organizations who share -- or plan to share -- internet connectivity rather than hoard it. It's also a group of volunteers who want this network to grow. We believe internet access should be available, fair, and uncensored. Personal Telco Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in PDX.
Whether you're a technology wizard or technically incompetent, volunteering with us is a great way to learn something new, enjoy teaching others, or use your skills to do something useful!

Your Future in the Cloud - Come for the Predictions, Stay for the Drinks
Roll back
| description |
It's no secret that the cloud is growing - and fast. But where is it going in such a hurry? What can we expect (and prepare ourselves for) in the years to come?Â
Â
Join us on Thursday evening (7/19) on the gorgeous Wieden + Kennedy rooftop for drinks, networking and a special discussion on the future of the cloud. The short discussion will be led by cloud evangelists Ben Kepes (@benkepes) and Krishnan Subramanian (@Krishnan), and moderated by TechCrunch's enterprise reporter, Alex Williams (@alexwilliams). From Hobbits to heterogeneous infrastructure, we'll take a look at where the cloud is going and what it will look like when it gets there.
Â
Stick around after the talk, mingle, and catch the breathtaking Portland sunset like you've never seen it before. |

Itâs back-to-school time!
With high school graduation rates falling, student achievement lagging and new Common Core Standards on the way, K-12 education reform is a hot topic around the U.S. and in this election year.
Whatâs exciting is that a new generation of âedupreneursâ has emerged to disrupt education in innovative ways with new solutions that are transforming the way we learn, teach, communicate and share information. And some of them are right here in Oregon!
Join us this back-to-school season at our Sept. 12th, OEN PubTalk⢠âBack-to-School with Edupreneursâ and learn how some of Oregonâs most innovative education startups, including EdCaliber, Membean and Sublime Learning, are changing the face of education. <b>Please note that the monthly meet-ups are no longer at Jive Software!</b>
The monthly meeting of Portland's first JavaScript and ECMAscript users' group. We host presentations and discussions on everything JavaScript-related - including JavaScript frameworks, node.js, CoffeeScript, and whatever else comes up.
Feel free to join our mailing list at http://groups.google.com/group/pdxjs if you too are a JavaScript admirer. Or visit our web site for more information at http://pdxjs.com/.
If you're interested in making a presentation at this or at a future meet-up, please e-mail [email protected].
<b>We are still looking for presenters for this meet-up, so please contact me if there's something you'd like to share with us!</b>
Oh, and there will be free pizza and beer! |
