Maseeh College works hard to create Scholarship and Internship programs for its undergraduate and graduate students. Maseeh College has a rich history that has evolved over a 45-year period, paralleling the growth of the high-technology industry in Oregon. create Calagator::Event 1250464953 PDXNode presentation night Roll back

description nil Monthly presentation night! Snacks and drinks will be provided by Mozilla. This month: * Ben Acker will share about some awesome drawings and tales of Nodejs within Walmart Labs. * Chris Dickinson will be sharing his talk on Javascript at Urban Airship. * there's still room for a lightning talk! This would be a great opportunity for someone to share a module they've found particularly useful or heinous. Please contact an organizer if you're interested. It will be a nice variety of topics and level of talks. If anyone is interested, we could also take discussions to post-talk drinks nearby. Maybe even hack a little.

create Calagator::Event 1250464952 Northwest Regional Women in Computing 2013 Roll back

description nil The Northwest Regional Women in Computing (NWrWIC) Celebration focuses on empowering and encouraging women to enter the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, particularly computer science. The conference brings together students from universities and high schools, with industry leaders from the private and public sectors to engage and inspire the next generation of leaders to play an active role in shaping the future of computing and technology. The 2013 conference, to be held in October, is the second annual event. Our mission is to encourage women to pursue and build successful careers in computing and technology by improving their educational experience and engagement with industry leaders. With less than 30% of STEM jobs filled by women, the industry is lacking full representation of the world’s views. This lack of diversity inhibits industry’s innovation potential. Our effort recognizes and empowers women who are part of the computing industry and celebrates all who are supporters of them. If you are the following, then you would want to come: College professionals, industry leaders, Job seekers, STEM/Technology leaders, Thought leaders, Professors, Teachers, High School STEM students(must be accompanied by guardian) Register for an early bird special: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3872721414?ref=elink Top companies and universities will be present

create Calagator::Event 1250464945 PDX Big Data Discussion Group Roll back

description nil "No talks. You may opt to take up to 60 seconds to complain about Big Data. One paper per month, no obligation to read it." We'll start by letting anyone who wants to take up to a minute to tell us what they've been doing with data lately. This month's paper is [Computational Methods for Dynamic Graphs](http://www2.research.att.com/~volinsky/papers/cpv.ps) by Cortes, Pregibon, and Volinsky. Read it or don't - the goal is just to have something to start conversations. "Did you read the paper?" will do nicely. Mention @PDXBigData on Twitter with the link to the full paper to suggest papers for future sessions.

description This workshop is a 10 hour movement intensive, presented over two consecutive days. You will learn to use the techniques and insights of theater and dance to discover new ways to find and expand your center. You do not need to be a performer; you only need to be committed to expanding your choice of creative movement through the discovery of your true core. Dates: October 5th & 6th, 2013 Time: 11am- 4pm each day Location: Lightbox Kulturhaus, 2027 NE MLK Blvd, Portland (enter through glass doors, behind Tiny's Coffee) Cost: $111 Spaces are limited so register soon! Instructor: Jacob Mooney This workshop is for actors, dancers, musicians, and anyone who wants to express themselves more fully and freely. We will draw from physical theater, butoh, clown, modern dance, and myth. We will cultivate presence, awareness and potency in both our performances and in our lives. We will inspire ourselves to walk our edges, push our limits, and dive deep within ourselves. Through this work we hope to connect with other creative people who can laugh together, work together, and collaborate on future initiatives based upon the foundation we build in these sessions. Jacob is an actor, dancer, clown and stilt performer. He has studied with Lume Theater in Brazil, Smascherati clown theater in Italy, Yumiko Yoshioka of butoh dance company Ten Pen CHii. Jacob has also trained and performed with the International Theater Collective, Berlin- based Grotest Maru, and the Carpet Bag Brigade stilt theater company. Jacob also directed the Slippery Theater Stilt company in Portland, OR and is the current director of the New Cascadia Clown Army.
