From his roots in punk rock diy screen printing he’s started and grown some of the biggest names in the decorated apparel industry today including starting Ryonet and ScreenPrinting.com in 2004 and also being a partner in ROQ.US, Allmade Apparel, and MADE Lab. Combined these companies do over 80 million dollars of revenue and touch every step of the t-shirt supply chain from fabrication development, manufacturing sustainable blank apparel, supplying screen printers with equipment and supplies, and creating thought leadership conferences to uplevel the industry. He’s passionate about helping people learn and grow and strives to make a positive impact and a better industry for the people and planet.

Ever wondered how many package updates were released for your favorite distro in the past month? Or how many times you have had to upgrade Firefox?
The Linux Changelog Project is an attempt to present statistics for the development and maintenance of Linux Distributions based on publicly available changelog data. By creating a distro-agnostic view of all changelog updates for a given project, we can see how the size and activity of a given distribution compares to its peers. At the moment only Fedora and Slackware are supported, but over time more distributions will be added. The end goal is to provide a web interface that will allow people to search for and browse the millions of package updates across all major Linux distributions.
As someone who is largely self-taught in the world of GNU/Linux, projects like this are how I learn about the Linux ecosystem and practice skills that I apply to my career in IT support. While my experience goes all the way back to the dark days of HAL I'm still surprised by what I find hiding in the various corners of the Linux world. Working with the changelog formats of different distributions has challenged hat I thought I knew, and I hope other users (new and old) will find it interesting as well. |

Demolicious is back! This monthly pitch event brings together founders and the community to learn about what is being built here and around Portland.
How this all works: If you are a founder, you will apply to pitch here. Don't worry. "Apply" simply means you want to pitch, but there's no real competitive process to be accepted. We just want to see what you're working on before we put you in front of a room full of people.
You will be given 3 minutes to pitch at the event.
The audience will be given a number to text and vote for their favorite one. The one with the most votes will go home with the Demolicious Championship belt.
The belt is not for you to keep as you will have to come back and "defend" it. However, you will be allowed to put your startup sticker (if applicable) on the belt for all to see and to live on forever in infamy!
We will post the projects/companies that will be pitching a week prior to the event. Which means you have until then to fill out the form.

Sometimes when we share research findings, we hear back, “We already knew that.” In this talk, I’ll examine why that happens, and what we can do about it. Sometimes, it’s a cognitive bias, called hindsight bias and also known as the “knew it all along” phenomenon. But there are other causes and we can adjust our approach to research to try and limit this all-too-common challenge.
