description nil Register for the event here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwrd-morjkiGdQslL4Vp6fQq-Ig9cMWbzIH The long-awaited AAPI in Tech group is kicking off its first official meetup, Let’s F*cking Go!! AAPI In Tech centers people who identify as part of the Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander community, while welcoming people who not only consider themselves as allies, but also take action toward supporting their AAPI comrades. During the event, we will learn more about PDXWIT’s AAPI in Tech initiative, hear from host company Avenue Agency, lightning speakers and have the opportunity to connect in breakout rooms. Agenda: 12:00 p.m. - PDXWIT and host intro 12:10 p.m. - Raffle! 12:15 p.m. - Lightning talks 12:30 p.m. - Networking in breakout rooms 1:00 p.m. - Event ends More about AAPI in Tech: The group aims to curate a space where AAPI members feel safe and included, so much so that they have the liberty to speak their minds and listen to others with openness. The group is a place where violence of any kind (verbal or/and physical, online or/and in reality) is not tolerated and civil discussions are reinforced. The group is also an ally to other communities including but not limited to: the Black community, the Latinx community, the LGBTQ+ community, the disability community, the Indigenous and Native American community, the immigrant community, and so on. It is worth noting that many people belong to multiple communities at the same time. While complexity is to be expected while navigating the ever evolving space of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, it is imperative to acknowledge intersectionality and how it can guide our community through conflicts and issues such as anti-Asian crimes, anti-immigrant rhetoric, the land-back movement, etc. Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our mission are welcome.

description nil *** Registration through: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZArcOmgpzgvHtFN0p8wzmk0eae_jeJ57r32 - After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting. *** At our April Native Americans in Tech mixer, we’re creating a decolonized space for Indigenous folks who work in tech or would like to. In the spirit of storytelling, we would like to encourage the community to share some 3 minute talks on recent projects, life events or challenges. This will be an informal, virtual meetup for attendees to nurture existing relationships and build new ones. This community will center the experiences of Indigenous people of North America. While this group is for folks that have a grounding in their Native American identities, we understand that Indigenous folks exist from all points of the globe and welcome you as well. We recognize the varied experiences of indigeneity for those who have had barriers in reclaiming their culture. This event will be facilitated by Erin Grace (Chetco, Tututni). This ongoing series is supported by Tech Town powered by Prosper Portland. We will have ASL interpretation and live closed captioning throughout. Hope to see you there! description nil After a SIX YEAR hiatus, Demolicious is back! We are very excited to be bringing back this beloved Portland startup event. If you are unfamiliar, Demolicious is a reoccurring event in which founders pitch, the audience decides, and the winners go home with an incredible award. In the past, this award took the form of a glorious trophy which the founders took home and brought back to defend their title at the next Demolicious event. With this new iteration of Demolicious, we're thrilled to announce there is a NEW award. A championship belt!! With a leather back and full brass face, this full-sized champion belt leaves no question who the winner of Demolicious really is. Could it be you!?! If your startup would like to pitch, please fill out a small form here: https://www.demolicious.net/

create Calagator::Event 1250478121 North Bank Founders Caffeine Fix Roll back

description nil OK! It's time to move back to some measured human contact • What we'll do You will drink coffee (and tea for those who are recovering caffeine addicts) and talk with other great founders in our local area. • What to bring Nada. Just a friendly demeanor and willingness to meet new great founders and talk about your project. • Important to know This is REALLY not the place you want to come if you are looking for sales leads. This event is a place to meet and share your startup journey and talk about your project. While we appreciate all the members of our community, network marketing and sales reps will find many short unuseful conversations in this crowd. Thanks for understanding.

create Calagator::Event 1250478110 Portland Surveillance Policy Development Roll back

description nil After passing a privacy resolution and two facial recognition bans, City of Portland staff are now working on drafting a policy for a surveillance ordinance for Portland. This surveillance technologies policy will focus on how the City of Portland uses, procures, and manages surveillance technologies and information. And the policy drafters want input from you! At this month's meeting, learn about the development of Portland's surveillance ordinance and how you can participate. Because of the complexity of such a policy, its development will be divided into three separate modules, with a discussion of the first module beginning on Wednesday, March 16th. Hector Dominguez, Open Data Coordinator at Smart City PDX, within Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, will join us at this meeting to explain the City's planned process for developing the policy and how community members can share their thoughts and insights. Come to the meeting, join the conversation, and help create a strong and effective surveillance policy for Portland! Please RSVP via the Meetup page or by sending an email to [email protected]. Meetup meeting page: https://www.meetup.com/Portlands-Techno-Activism-3rd-Mondays/events/284474458/ Speaker bio: Hector Dominguez is the Open Data Coordinator at the City of Portland. Our team has performed a large number of Exchange migrations for companies of various size and can show you how to successfully move your email/calendar/contact information to the cloud with near-zero downtime. How We Can Help Facilitate a smooth transition from Microsoft Exchange to Microsoft 365 with minimal downtimes. Migrate all current emails, calendar events and contact data so your staff do not miss a beat. Support your company throughout the entire process from the assessment review all the was to post-migration services as well as training to ensure limited interruption to productivity. Step into the future with confidence. We have partnered with industry leaders to provide you with the tools needed to achieve a seamless transition. Our Office 365 Migration services traditionally include the following steps. We recognize that every company/situation is unique and can customize our services to meet your unique needs. Initial Exchange server/health assessment. Assessment Review – A thorough review is conducted with your team including suggestions on how to best prepare the server for the upcoming migration. Training – The entire staff is trained on what to expect on the transition day. This will include a brief walkthrough of Office 365 online. This is invaluable to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible and that staff are comfortable on the migration day. Selection of migration date – This is the date/time when the email will stop flowing into your current infrastructure and start delivering to Office 365. Pre-migration data copy – In the days/weeks leading to the cutover date, our team will begin the process of copying all of your important data to the cloud. Migration day – On the cut-over date, we like to have a few staff members at your location to ensure that everything is going smoothly and that your staff receives the support they need. During this time any ancillary devices can also be set up including phones/iPods etc. Post-migration data sweep – On the migration day, our systems will automatically start sweeping mailboxes for anything that was left behind or was delivered after the migration date. This ensures all of your data gets to its new home in the cloud.

create Calagator::Event 1250478106 Sunset and RFCs Roll back

description nil Sunset will re-occur again at the same time again tommorrow, and every day, namely at the 12th hour. However, due to the inadequacy of our horological technology, the clock so-called "time" keeps moving with respect to it. Therefore the clock has to be continually recalibrated, and this is an unnecessary problem that is, due to an inherent design flaw in our industrial engineering, and unavoidable fact of modern so-called "life" and of the Roman empire generally. The basic problem is that "midnight" is not an astronomically observable event, and neither is the "meridum". Therefore they should not be the basis for our horological calculations. Unfortunately, the ISO and the Roman empire want us all dependent on their astrological fictions so that their priesthood remains in authority, and their factory bosses can keep us under their thumb, by telling us what to do when. This is unnecessary, and we should stop complying with it. I hereby declare the clock to be deprecated. Furthermore, I declare sundown to be the beginning of the new day. By the way, the sun is not "god", but it is a fact of nature. Also, it is a tangential issue to the one at hand, but lunacy is worthy of consideration. I pledge $92 to anyone who can invent a reliable handheld horological device that can tell me what hour it is, any time of year, for the latitude and longitude of Portland, Oregon. Version 2.0 will abstract the calculations to cover an arbitrary latitude and longitude. If anyone can implement version 2.0 as a bash utility, and get it integrated with the Linux kernel and distribted with a GNU/Linux operating system, I will pay your $95, with or without the handheld. There is no need for 24 hours every day. Why are we requiring this? It is almost as stupid as legislating an official decimal expansion of pi. We could have more or less hours per day depending on the season. The full day should have 24 hours only at the equinoctii. Since I like to take siestas in the summer, and wake up at midnight in winter. Therefore, the hours should expand and contract accordingly. Every day should have exactly 12 hours of daylight, and this is not presently occuring. Hello!? We are totally contrary to nature, and most other species of animal are far more intelligent than us in this regard. We are not operating according to the design of nature. And the natural design is considerably better than the designs of the pyrrhonnical ignoramuses and logical positivists have incoherently collaborated in inventing, in the name of clockwork and so-called "cognitive science", to which we must protest. This is a Request For Comments, and I would like the IEEE, the W3C, and other standards bodies to adopt it as an official recommendation. I declare a boycott on employment, and on all interviews with tech recruiters until they can find a start-up to include this perk in my compensation package. I invite you all to join me in this boycott. This makes much more sense than daylight savings, stock options, wage slavery, or a pie eating contest in which the prize for winning is more pie. Thanks for your consideration.
