create Calagator::Event 1250463859 QA Forum: Creating an Agile Quality Test Plan Roll back

description nil Quality Assurance Forum Event: Plan Less, Break More, Deliver Faster - an Agile Test Planning Workshop There are as many Agile Test Plans as there are flavors of Agile. They range from simply no test plan at all to fossilized relics left over from the Waterfall days. So what does the Agile Manifesto say about test plans? It says two things, but nothing really specific: "working software over comprehensive documentation” and "responding to change over following a plan”. What does this all mean when it comes to the Agile Test Plan? In this hands on workshop, we will split into teams, analyze a real-life case study, devise a test plan (or perhaps discount the test plan), and answer this question once and for all. Using a real-life case study we will fast forward through time, change deadlines, change scope, open defects, and see how effective your test plan really was. When: Thursday, May 9th Where: Thetus Corporation, 34 NW 1st Ave Portland, OR 97209 Time: 5:30-8:30 · 5:30 Doors Open, Networking · 5:45 Program Begins, Problem Statement · 6:00 Split into teams, eat and work · 7:15 Teams present Test Plans · 7:45 Fast Forward Through Case Study · 8:30 Dismiss $25 Members $45 Nonmembers To Register - TAO at [email protected]

create Calagator::Event 1250463856 Mobile Portland - Two Strikes, You're Out: The Importance of Testing Roll back

description nil Did you know 84% of users report that they'll uninstall an app after two crashes? Did you know that there are 32,000 new apps each month in the iOS and Play markets combined? Increased competition and increasing complexity in app development mean testing is simultaneously more important and more difficult. This discussion will cover the importance of being proactive with regards to quality, from developing with testing in mind to implementing automated tests. It will also provide an overview of tools and services that can help with quality throughout an app's development and deployment. About the Speakers Pawel Wojnarowicz, Founder, AppThwack Pawel built an automation platform in his spare time that became the official solution for testing all wireless products at Intel. Pawel left after nine years to co-found AppThwack, a mobile app testing service that helps developers and QA teams quickly and automatically test their apps on real devices. Trent Peterson, Founder, AppThwack Trent spent seven years at Intel designing system-automation solutions trusted to test products used by millions of customers with an emphasis on simplicity and user experience. He left in early 2012 to co-found AppThwack, a mobile app testing service that helps developers and QA teams quickly and automatically test apps on real devices.

More importantly, who could be bothered to get behind it as a new user, with so many other things available? If Facebook's decline is not interrupted, how could Twitter or any variation of social media hope to fill the same connective role? Aren't things getting worse? This is a pattern of fragmentation, increasing and separating. The end of the mobile world has arrived as well, with new iPhones and Androids only enhancing their previous capabilities, unable to make any progress beyond superficial features. What we see is a pattern of fragmentation, increasing and separating. The end of the mobile world has arrived, as new iPhones and Androids only enhance their previous technical capabilities, unable to make any significant changes beyond superficial features. All that was fantasized to have at one's fingertips by AT&T commercials in the 1990's is now available, with videos, streaming, maps, and videoconferencing. Is technology over? Director Park has free wifi and seating is usually available. When PHP and MySQL can be programmed by anyone, who could start a new phenomenon like eBay or Craiglist? More importantly, who could be bothered to get behind it as a new user, with so many other things available? If Facebook's decline is not interrupted, how could Twitter or any variation of social media hope to fill the same connective role? Aren't things getting worse? This is a pattern of fragmentation, increasing and separating. description nil Building a Kick-Ass company is more than just difficult—it’s a high-wire act that challenges even the most skilled product development acrobats, and there’s no net. Just look at Tim Cook’s apology for Apple’s Maps application—The company that danced on the wire for so long had to swallow its pride when it kicked its own ass. What can we learn from that catastrophe? More importantly, how do you know when your product is ready to kick ass, and when your ass is hanging out? About the Speaker Charles Austen Angell (@AustenAngell) is Founder and President of Modern Edge, Inc. based in Portland Oregon. With more than 25 years of professional experience in Industrial Design, he has worked with industry leaders in Health & Wellness, Mobility, Home Products and Experiential Environments.

A native Australian, Mr. Angell has traveled extensively through Europe, the Americas, Africa, China, Southeast Asia, and Australia examining the role of culture, politics and geography in shaping our evolving global design industry. Mr. Angell is passionate about creating new markets and designing product relationships that transcend cultural borders to enhance our shared human experience.

Mr. Angell is the Chairman-Elect on the Board of the Industrial Design Society of America and was the Chairman of the 2012 IDSA International Conference in Boston, “THE FUTURE IS…” He was one of the original five trustees for the Design Foundation, a public charity supporting design education through educational and social responsibility. Through his numerous speaking engagements, publications and teaching, Mr. Angell is committed to increasing the value of human creativity to benefit human society and commerce. Mr. Angell is a graduate of Purdue University.
