April PADNUG - Doing Scrum Under a Waterfall - Couch to 5k
Roll back
| description |
Dave Harrison will be joining us to demonstrate how you can adopt Agile techniques in a way that fit in YOUR company's structure! You will learn how to align your work to align with company goals. It will help eliminate wasted code by getting more regular feedback and by trimming out features in your software that the business wants but doesn't need. This is can be vital in helping to cull out technical debt.
The best part? You may see yourself less frustrated during your day at work... and putting in less time over the weekends and nights trying to put out *fires*.
You will see such things as:
The Tolstoy Test (How do you know if youâre doing REAL Agile Development?)
Finding your own way up the mountain
Devs are from Mars, BAâs and PMâs are from Venus (very different perspectives of work)
Sneaky guerilla tactics to get Agile working in your company â grassroots style
Cut your administration/project management time down to 2 hours a week TOTAL â getting your dev leads back into the game!
Advanced capacity planning and keeping your promises
Lessons Dave learned by failing spectacularly!
But there's more! Scott Hanselman and Rob Conery of "This Devloper's Life" will also be joining us in the meeting.

Description
Fortune 500 and celebrity brand manager, Pinky Gonzales, outlines the art and science of personal branding with social media and more. Attendees will learn how to land their next job, attract new business and communicate more professionally with contacts and customers alike.
About Pinky Gonzales
Pinky Gonzales is an unusual character even by entertainment industry standards. After dropping out of high school twice and finding a way to land and lose nearly two-dozen jobs before his 21st birthday, he seemed to be on track to crash and burn both personally and professionally. Yet by age 30 he was a partner in a multi-million dollar digital services agency with clients including Kanye West, Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Keith Urban, Robert Plant and Kevin Bacon, and Fortune 500 companies including Hershey's, General Motors and Kingsford Charcoal.
After selling the company to Ticketmaster in 2007, he went on to become an award-winning adjunct professor at Belmont University for his course in brand development and digital strategies, and has been an active investor and advisor to more than 25 startups throughout the country.
Gonzales is now bringing the lessons he has learned along the way to the public with a series of workshops and presentations that illuminate the art of personal branding, career development, community management, digital marketing and succeeding on your own terms.

Ping me at 503 890 8036 if the door locks for any reason. Everyone should be able to get in just fine without needing to.
Also: Yellow Line & Green Line stop just 1 block away and almost every bus line in the city stops within 1-2 blocks on the bus mall. The #6 & related buses stop on the east/west streets parallel to the building or 1 block away.
Biking: watch out for the tracks, they're sketch. Best routes is to come up and down the bus/rail mall in the bike/car travel lane. From the east side head over the Hawthorne Bridge, then turn onto 5th.
Driving: there is on street & other parking, generally ranges from free to $3 bucks to park. If you see a higher price, keep looking there's bound to be something nearby. |

Over the years I've been on several different teams that have been formed around existing software projects. The original authors were no longer directly involved, if they were anywhere to be found at all. How do you navigate the pitfalls and traps in existing software projects and come out the other side with the gold? What matters, what doesn't, and how do you stay alive?
About the speaker:
Andrew Parker first started with computers on a Commodore 64 and has now been a professional software developer for over a decade. He has been self taught, school taught, and mentor taught by a range of individuals and institutions around the world. He is passionate about TDD, refactoring, and pair programming. Andrew Parker is a software developer at Puppet Labs. |

PDMA Event: Price Elasticity Modeling in New Product Development
Roll back
| description |
nil |
→ |
We know consumer testing is critical for defining features and the target market. It is also true that consumer testing can drive price modeling to understand how the product will work in the market and to express the relationship between prices and sales units for a product or products.
This session covers the use of sophisticated consumer research to model pricing for new products to maximize income while maintaining consumer preference and superior positioning against competitors. This methodology can be applied to any industry.
The Oregon Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) invites you to its April Learning and Networking Event. At this event, the speaker will discuss how consumer research can model price elasticity to optimize both income and competitiveness in the market.
A special thanks to the Oregon Technology Business Center (OTBC) for hosting this event.
