create Calagator::Event 1250470533 Portland Nintex User Group Roll back

description nil For this meeting we're going to try a new format as an experiment. We want you to bring your questions and the Nintex topics you are curious about to this meeting. If you don't have a particular question or topic, that's no problem, this meeting should still be valuable. We'll be using a format similar to Lean Coffee - basically you write down the topics you're interested in, we combine those together, everyone votes on the topics they're interested in, and the conversations are prioritized based upon the number of votes. A time keeper will notify all the groups every 10 minutes or so, and the group then votes to continue speaking on a particular topic or moving on. This process might sound complex, but I assure you it's actually simple and awesome. We'll flush out the topics most important to the most number of people in the room. Bring any topic relevant to Nintex. The group is doing this as an experiment to see if it vibes with our members. I still don't know to call this type of meeting. If you have a catchy title or suggestion post it below! Agenda: 11:30 - Pizza, announcements 11:45 - Group discussions begin.

update Calagator::Event 1250467101 Getting back into the (right) deliverables business Roll back

description <p>This month Rian van der Merwe will be giving a talk entitled "Getting back into the (right) deliverables business"</p> <p>I feel a little bad for the static wireframe. It's had a bad year. In fact, UX deliverables in general have had a bad couple of years. There's a growing skepticism about the value of Personas and other traditional UX artefacts, as well as an onslaught of "get out of the deliverables business" refrains from Lean methodologies.</p> <p>All of this led me to lots of introspection about deliverables, and if it’s actually possible to create deliverables that are useful to help create better products.</p> <p>In this talk I’ll tell our story. How we stripped down all our deliverables to almost nothing, and then started building it all up again slowly by asking ourselves, “What is absolutely necessary for us to do a great job?” I’ll discuss some of the deliverables we’ve since created (such as Expanded Journey Maps and Content Slice Diagrams), how they’re useful to us, and how you might be able to use them in your design process as well.</p> <p>We’ve come to realise that not all UX deliverables are bad. Only bad deliverables are bad.</p> <p> <b>About Rian</b></p> <p>Rian is passionate about designing and building software that people love to use. After spending several years working in Silicon Valley, he is currently Director of User Experience at consultancy Flow Interactive in South Africa. He also writes regularly about design, technology, and software development for Smashing Magazine and his own site, Elezea.</p> <p>This month Rian van der Merwe will be giving a talk entitled "Getting back into the (right) deliverables business"</p> <p>I feel a little bad for the static wireframe. create Calagator::Event 1250470531 UX + Optimization Tech Meet-Up [Camp Optimization] Roll back

description nil Camp Optimization's mission is simple: provide a casual, fun and informative forum for digital marketers and technologists to share optimization best practices, challenges and wins. Camp Optimization is hosted by roboboogie. Roboboogie is a Portland-based digital experience optimization agency partnering closely with brands to improve conversion rates, nurture brand advocacy and increase customer value. Camp Optimization welcomes Thom Hines! Thom makes things easier, like Bzzy--a simple and smart to-do list app for individuals and teams who need to get stuff done. He also teaches Interaction and Web Design at Portland State University. This month's discussion topic: Optimization is not all sales and email sign-ups. This month Camp Optimization explores the role of effective UI design in improving productivity and engagement. Thom will share his perspectives on how engaging experiences help users get things done, and keeps them coming back for more. Meet us at the Assembly Lounge bar at Revolution Hall (Second Floor) for for some beer and casual networking. We'll end the night on the rooftop with a few games of Corn Hole. First round of drinks are on us! Make sure to spread the word and don't forget to RSVP. We hope to see you there!

update Calagator::Event 1250470529 Advanced Data Visualization - Portland DAMA Roll back

description The world produces more than 2.5 exabytes of data every day. There is just too much information out there and traditional reports using tabs, rows and columns do not paint the whole picture any longer. Visualization is one key approach to gaining insight from this mountain of data. Advanced Visualizations Platforms have enabled the use of more dynamic and interactive business graphics, such as real-time dashboards and charts that update automatically as the data changes. It enables knowledge workers to see the trends and patterns (along with gaps and outliers) in the data that are not as easily identified in rows and columns of numbers. Even Data Scientists are leveraging advanced visualizations tools to explore, understand and communicate insights, along with the actions that need to be taken. In this session, we will explore how advanced visualization tools are being utilized in the era of big data to draw valuable business insights and we will also delve into some of the predominant data visualization tools being used by Data Scientists. <h3>Schedule</h3> 8:30 - 9:00 am - Sign In <br> 9:00 - 10:15 am - Presentation <br> 10:15 - 10:30 am - Break, Chapter Announcements<br> 10:30 - 11:30 am - Presentation continued<br> <h3>Registration and Cost</h3> Free for Members and employees of Corporate Members. <br> <b>Please register at damapdx.org so we can plan refreshments </b> <br> See our corporate members at damapdx.org <br> $15 for Non-Members to cover refreshements and speaker travel costs <br> $5 for Students with valid student ID <br> <h3>About Us</h3> The Portland Metro Chapter of the Data Administration Management Association is a not-for-profit, vendor independent, professional association dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of enterprise information and data resource management.
