description Create online presence and support for technical products using video for web as a primary vehicle. This webinar will present ideas for creating, promoting and optimizing online videos for training, sales, and technical support of products. Video for the web fits especially well with products that require set up, calibration and regular maintenance such as laboratory instruments, equipment, and industrial products with technical applications. Vinnie Martorano with Sheldon MFG. will be presenting a case study on Sheldon's latest product launch the 3552 CO2 Incubator. Challenged with supporting and educating a worldwide dealer network, Sheldon MFG began using video to train and promote their line of laboratory incubators, ovens, and chambers. Using video Sheldon was able to launch the 3552 into the global marketplace quickly and clearly. Mr. Martorano will elaborate on the chosen content, format and results seen thus far in this latest product release. create Calagator::Event 1250458267 Portland Linux/Unix Group: A Talk by Jeri Ellsworth Roll back

description nil PRESENTATION A Talk by Jeri Ellsworth (Circuit Girl) Jeri Ellsworth is a native Oregonian, born in Yamhill and raised in Dallas, Oregon. Early on she became fascinated with electronics and 8-bit computers setting the stage for her unique approach to learning. Not being challenged in school, she skipped higher education to pursue a career in car-racing and chassis fabrication. After that, she opened a chain of computer stores in Oregon and Washington. She sold those to peruse a career in chip design, which lead her to design the CommodoreOne - based upon the Commodore 64 - using reconfigurable logic and the C64 DTV 30- games-in-one joystick, selling, a quarter million units. She currently works as an Oregon based consultant. I'm not sure what Jeri is going to speak about yet, but judging the talk she gave at Sanford, it should be very good indeed. See a video of her Sanford talk at: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1053309060448851979# Also, see her webs sites at: http://www.jeriellsworth.com/ and http://www.fatmanandcircuitgirl.com/

update Calagator::Event 1250458253 Silverlight Hackathon - Install Clinic Roll back

description Stuart Celarier is running an Install Clinic at Backspace starting at 10am. After the clinic, it is a short walk to Souk where we'll be starting the main event at 1pm. The Install Clinic is an opportunity to drop in, grab a cup of coffee, and Prepare Your System for the Hackathon. Depending on what software you have to install, and the speed of your laptop, it can take some time for the installs to run. You might want to do those installations at home, but if you're like me, these things can sometimes get put off to the last minute. Well, here is your formal last minute to get ready. It's also an opportunity to schmooze, and if you get set up early you can help others or even try your hand at some impromptu Silverlight hacking. I am working to get installation media onto CDs or USB drives so we're not all trying to download off the Internets. As with any install, I'd highly recommend that you ensure that your system backup is current and valid before getting started. create Calagator::Event 1250458257 Portland Wiki Wednesday Roll back

description nil People of all levels of interest around Wikis - expert to curious - are welcome to this open house of Wiki on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM at the AboutUs offices. ***Note that the doors of the Oat Mill Building, where AboutUs is located, are locked at promptly at 5:30, so look for a note on the north-side door with a phone number to call if you are locked out.*** Discussion is informal and takes a collaborative flair. It’s a good place to meet people from all walks of life, who make wikis, are in communities that use them, can help you figure out what a wiki can do for you, and for you to discover wikis in general. The atmosphere encourages just hanging out to chat and generally cavort with a group of like-minded about open sources and community. It’s a monthly celebration of wiki community in Portland, the birthplace of the wiki. Portland wiki planning and development can be found at the Portland wiki page http://pdx.wiki.org/Main_Page . Portland Wiki Conference page. If you're not located near Portland, there are several other Wiki Wednesdays (http://pdx.wiki.org/Other_Wiki_Wednesdays)around the globe you can attend.

create Calagator::Event 1250458253 Silverlight Hackathon - Install Clinic Roll back

description nil Stuart Celarier is running an Install Clinic at Backspace starting at 10am. 'Nuf said.

update Calagator::Event 1250458222 Silverlight Hackathon Roll back

description Silverlight Hackathon - Sunday Jan 31st 1pm-5:55pm Event Sponsors: *IT Motives, Get It Right, Souk* We've got a great place to hang out, and the Silverlight Hackathon is a go! Meet us downtown at Souk, and we're going to have a great day of working on Silverlight. We've had some great project suggestions, and we'll break down into groups and work on projects that we find fun. Are you new to Silverlight? This is a great chance to get started. We've already had several people offer to help beginners out. Where? Souk downtown (http://local.google.com/local?f=q&hl=en&q=322+NW+6th+Avenue,+Portland,+OR&ie=UTF8&om=1&hq=&hnear=322+NW+6th+Ave,+Portland,+Multnomah,+Oregon+97209&ll=45.525532,-122.676194&spn=0.010809,0.028818&z=16&iwloc=A ). It's super close to all kinds of Bus/Max stops, and there's a easy Smart Park close. Since it's Sunday, I expect there will even be street parking options. Souk's direction page: http://www.soukllc.com/directions.html Public Transportation souk is located on the Max Green Line/Yellow Line (China Town Stop) and the bus route. The nearby streetcar also accesses souk a few blocks away. Consult www.trimet.org for more information. By Bike Bike lockers are within a couple blocks, and U bike racks are available on souk's block. By Car Zipcar's closest spot is at Flanders and 4th. The closest garage is on Everett at 5 th one block away. Smartpark has garages within a few blocks at Naito and NW Davis and at Station Place (at the westside foot of the Broadway Bridge). Additionally, there are several outdoor lots within a few blocks of souk. What do I need? A laptop capable of running Dev Studio/Silverlight: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/dd823311.aspx What can I do to help? Burn some CD/DVDs. We need SL3 Tools + Blend/Dev Express, SL 4 Tools and Blend/Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2.
