The cryptocurrency bear market of 2018 saw both Ethereum and Bitcoin tokens lose more than 80% of their peak value, but that doesn’t mean development has slowed. Ignoring the market and speculation of crypto tokens, let's explore how these crypto tokens, notably Ethereum, have improved! Join Scott Bigelow, VP of Engineering at Amberdata (a blockchain data company) in an interactive exploration. He’ll share what cryptocurrencies, like Ethereum, are capable above, aside from being bought, sold, and transferred. This session will discuss topics such as "stable" coins, cross-chain bridges, games, hardware wallets, and more.

    PDXWIT & Dress for Success Present: What Do You Mean I Can Get Into Tech?

    Have you been wondering how to break into the tech industry? There are some specific things you can do to land that dream opportunity. In collaboration with our community partner, Dress for Success Oregon and event host Zapproved, join us for an evening panel discussion where you’ll learn from folks who’ve successfully broken into the industry. .

    You’ll also get some insider tips from the perspective of recruiters. Learn about what they look for in candidates who are pivoting into tech from other industries, and how you can be placed into tech organizations.

    Fueling belonging is one of PDXWIT’s core missions and we’re thrilled that Dress for Success Oregon is our partner for this event! In addition to our panel conversation and recruiter tips, you’ll also learn more about Dress for Success Oregon from their Executive Director Sarah Rothenfluch.

    An East entrance to the Leland James building is also available -This entrance is in a central quad between NW Raleigh & NW Savier -The entrance door is located between Sunshine Noodles & Good Coffee -This entrance is accessible by stairs or a ramp

    From either entrance, take the elevators to the 4th floor where Zapproved offices are located. The exterior building doors will lock at 6PM.

    Portland OWASP - InfoSec and AppSec: Recruiting, Interviewing, Hiring Q&A

They focus on performing technical security testing, risk assessments, and providing business risk guidance on a wide variety of infrastructure technologies such as operating systems (Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS, Android), devices (mobile, embedded technologies, IOT), networks (wired, wireless, cloud), and applications (endpoint, mobile, public cloud).

    Philip is director of compliance and IT at Zapproved. He has over 20 years’ experience in IT security, network management, system engineering, and IT processes. His past experience includes Director of Security at Jama Software and CISO at Strands Finance. Philip holds his CISSP and CISM certifications and is a recognized leader in information security.
