Portland startup community gathering – Irving Street Studio In January, PIE (Portland Incubator Experiment) and a variety of our community partners threw together the beta test for a lowkey networking event for the Portland startup community. No programming. No activities. Just people meeting people in the community. (We kind of thought of it as one of those "after parties" that take place at a major event — without having the actual major event.) The result…? 400+ folks showed up. People who have been around forever met new people. People who just moved to town said "This is exactly what I needed." And all in all, a good time was had by all. So we're doing it again. https://www.meetup.com/pie-portland-startup-community/events/305535888/ |

Beer and Blog: WordCamp US 2024 edition – Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery NOTE: Partaking in beer and/or blogging is neither expected nor required. We're just looking for an excuse to get the broader Portland startup and tech community together. Back in the before times — when blogging was far more prevalent — the Portland startup community used to gather every Friday afternoon under the pretense of discussing blogging and often WordPress. When it was really just an excuse to see one another. And welcome both new transplants and visitors alike to Portland. Every Friday, Beer and Blog was the best place to meet and chat with the Portland tech community — as a community — whether you happened to blog or not. With WordCamp US 2024 — which is being held in Portland, this year — coming to a conclusion on Friday, September 20, 2024, it seemed like an opportune time to bask in a little nostalgia and gather for another Beer and Blog. Just for old time's sake. So take off work a bit early and head down to Rogue in SE Portland (formerly known as The Green Dragon). You deserve it. Go spend some time getting acquainted with the Portland tech community you're one event away from getting to know and love. Or reconnect with folks whom you haven't seen in a long long time. |

*LAST* PIE Demo Day, ever! – The Redd After three years of virtual demo days, we're getting back to an in-person demo day! What's more, THIS WILL BE THE LAST PIE DEMO DAY, EVER. Please join us for PIE Demo Day 2023 on August 10, 2023. Meet the startups from this year's PIE class, PIE alums, mentors, investors, and other members of the startup community during an event that diverges from the typical startup accelerator demo day format… plus a few more surprises. Open to the public. All are welcome. You do not have to be an accredited investor to attend. Participating startups include:
Featuring products from Built Accelerator participants and alums like:
Taking learnings from both previous in-person and online events, PIE Demo Day 2023 will forego the typical “staged presentation” format in favor of a more interactive trade show format, with recorded pitches from participating startups being made available prior to the show at https://youtube.com/@piepdx. “We would rather have members of the community stop by demo day for a few minutes to meet specific founders — or to wander the trade show floor — than require them to sit through all of the presentations before getting access to the startups that interest them,” said Rick Turoczy, cofounder and general manager of PIE. “We tested a virtual trade show format during the pandemic that provided this a more interactive environment for attendees than previous demo days — and the feedback from both attendees and founders was extremely positive. This year, we’re excited to test that more interactive format in person for the benefit of the entire Portland startup community.” Read more:
Not interested in meeting with the current PIE startups…? We hope to see you there! |
