Description

Writing your own CSS from scratch puts you firmly in the driver's seat, but for large projects it presents major challenges. On the other hand, large front-end frameworks like Twitter Bootstrap and Zurb Foundation are vastly better in terms of development velocity, but let's face it: they've become so ubiquitous that they're immediately recognizable and thus not necessarily the best design decision in a lot of cases. So-called "object-oriented CSS" is an attempt to have it both waysto be abstract enough to be useful in large projects while remaining non-opinionated regarding specific design choices. In my talk, I'd like to discuss some of the currently available OOCSS tools—InuitCSS foremost among them—and to initiate a discussion regarding the promise and perils of OOCSS. Presented by Luc Perkins of Janrain.
