description SecViz.org is a great resource for security visualizations, but most suffer from a lack of interactivity. Completing kinectasploit for DEFCON19 made me realize the utility of game engines for interacting with security tools and security information. Jeff will start with a recap/encore performance of kinectasploit (http://p0wnlabs.com/defcon19), which uses gestures to drive a first-person shooter 3D game environment to break into computers on victim virtual machines. Then using the same technology, Jeff will walk through a couple scenes using standard corporate security data in a 3D, kinect-driven environment made possible by the blender game engine. Kinect and gestures are two of the most prevalent game-changing technologies to affect user interfaces since the keyboard and mouse. Applying these tools to real-world data is challenging, fraught with pitfalls, and a heck of a lot of fun! description → Ryan Alsett is presenting at this month's user group meeting, and it looks awesome! Ryan has built a system that allows attendees to launch a remote desktop session complete with all tools needed to debug a native Drupal instance. In other words, bring your laptops: we're going to debug drupal at the touch of a button, no ugly configuration or installation involved. We're going to walk through the Drupal 7 bootstrap and watch as each part falls into place. Ryan is also going to show us some simple approaches to debugging our own projects. So, to recap: Wednesday, 6pm, OpenSourcery. Bring your laptops and enough battery for about 1.5 hours. This session is going to go about 30-45 minutes longer than normal due to all the awesome we're trying to cram in. See you there!

From fictitious graveyards to s'mores designed in morse code to music clips containing a hidden message, anything is possible to encounter when playing in the DASH puzzle hunt. A puzzle hunt, a unique type of treasure hunt, is a fun, interactive, outdoor event in which teams of players race to find and solve creative puzzles hidden in different locations. DASH (Different Area—Same Hunt) is a puzzle hunt event that happens simultaneously across multiple cities across the United States. The inaugural DASH in September 2009 spanned 8 cities. DASH 4 is currently being planned in 13 participating cities. Creating the hunt is a collaborative effort of puzzle enthusiast volunteers across the country. Each city contributes a clue to the event, and each event uses all the clues from the contributing cities.

About Our Speakers Mary Poppendieck (poppendieck.com) teaches and consults worldwide on Lean principles for software. Her approach identifies real business value and enables product teams to realize that value. Ron Jeffries is one of the 3 founders of the Extreme Programming (XP) software development methodology circa 1996, along with Kent Beck and Ward Cunningham. He was from 1996, an XP coach on the Chrysler Comprehensive Compensation System project, which was where XP was invented. He is an author of Extreme Programming Installed, the second book published about XP. He has also written Extreme Programming Adventures in C#. He is one of the 17 original signatories of the Agile Manifesto. Chet Hendrickson specializes in assisting software organizations become more effective through the use of agile software techniques.
