description nil Come join us for a nice cup of coffee (or tea if that's your thing) and meet fellow founders from around the Portland area. Please fill out your Offer/Ask document (and if you can help another founder out) We can't wait to learn more about what you are working on and how we can be helpful. As always, be there thinking about ways you can help your fellow founders. No selling, no solicitations, just good conversations! Please fill out your Offer/Ask doc (it'll take two minutes), something you offer other founders for free, and something you're asking you need help with (and help another founder out) See you there! Josh & Mark About founder.coffee: As a business owner, you are faced with many challenges. You're forced to make decisions every day that could make or break your business. founder.coffee is a way to network with other entrepreneurs to allow free-flowing information with the intent to collaborate and help each other. So often we're challenged and there's very little we can do to express our challenges with the people we work with or the people we care about. Think of founder.coffee as your own personal support group for business owners. We're all here to help!

create Calagator::Event 1250481294 Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (OCPA) Roll back

description nil In the absence of a federal privacy law, states have been enacting their own laws to protect the privacy of their residents. California began the trend by passing the California Consumer Privacy Act, which became effective as of January 1, 2020. Since then, eighteen other states have passed comprehensive privacy legislation, including Oregon, the eleventh state to do so. Oregon's new law, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (OCPA), took effect on July 1, 2024 and gives Oregonians a new and powerful set of consumer privacy rights and protections. The OCPA defines personal and biometric data broadly, protects consumer data rights holistically, and holds companies that have access to our data to high standards. The Act also gives consumers control over how businesses use their personal data and guarantees Oregonians affirmative rights to manage and safeguard their personal data. More information about the OCPA is available here: https://www.doj.state.or.us/consumer-protection/id-theft-data-breaches/privacy While this new law may seem complicated, Dr. Katie Blevins, a Privacy Analyst with the Oregon Department of Justice, will join us this month to explain how the new law works. She'll detail both consumer rights and business obligations set forth by the new law, and she'll also discuss exemptions to the law and how any future federal laws might affect Oregon's law. Additionally, she'll share information about what you should do if you believe your rights have been violated and what happens then. Bring your questions, and come learn what the OCPA means for you and your privacy! This event is co-hosted by PDX Privacy and Portland's Techno-activism 3rd Mondays. Please RSVP via this Meetup page or by sending an email to [email protected]. Speaker bio: Dr. Katie Blevins is a Privacy Analyst in the Civil Enforcement of the Oregon Department of Justice. She received her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to her arrival at the Oregon DOJ, she was a tenured professor at the University of Idaho, where she was a member of the School of Journalism & Mass Media, Co-Director of the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program, and a part time member of UI’s School of Law. She has published on issues around privacy, government transparency, telecommunications law, and fourth-wave feminism. In her role at the DOJ, she generates privacy policy, helps implement and enforce relevant privacy laws, and performs outreach on behalf of the citizens of Oregon. By attending this TA3M meeting, you agree to follow our Code of Conduct: https://www.meetup.com/Portlands-Techno-Activism-3rd-Mondays/pages/22681732/Code_of_Conduct {short} Code of Conduct Portland's Techno-Activism 3rd Mondays is dedicated to providing an informative and positive experience for everyone who participates in or supports our community, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, socioeconomic status, caste, or creed. description nil Details September Demolicious will be at the westside UpStart Collective location! ::::::: Please use the form below to apply to pitch for SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER ::::::::::: Demolicious is back! This monthly pitch event brings together founders and the community to learn about what is being built here and around Portland. How this all works: If you are a founder, you will apply to pitch here. Don't worry. "Apply" simply means you want to pitch, but there's no real competitive process to be accepted. We just want to see what you're working on before we put you in front of a room full of people. You will be given 3 minutes to pitch at the event. The audience will be given a number to text and vote for their favorite one. The one with the most votes will go home with the Demolicious Championship belt. The belt is not for you to keep as you will have to come back and "defend" it. However, you will be allowed to put your startup sticker (if applicable) on the belt for all to see and to live on forever in infamy! We will post the projects/companies that will be pitching a week prior to the event. Which means you have until then to fill out the form. Teams Pitching: TBD Will you be the next founder to pitch!?!

update Calagator::Event 1250481259 "Work With Your Laurelhurst Neighbors" Coworking Day — by Radious Roll back

description ##Community-First Coworking## Welcome to the future of coworking. It’s hyper-local, right in your ‘hood. We’ve set up a beautiful, unique, comfy working environment in a house in your neighborhood (this one is spitting distance from Laurelhurst Park). And we’re inviting other folks in the Laurelhurst area so you can not only get some work done in a cool place, but also meet the people who live and work around you. Grab tickets and learn more at https://hello.radious.pro/neighborhood-coworking ##What makes Rad Coworking different?## Most “traditional” coworking spaces make it hard to meet relevant folks. It’s just a room full of strangers with very little in common. With Radious’ neighborhood coworking, the whole point is to be working among others who live in your immediate area. Our homes-turned-workspaces have social areas for chit-chat, networking areas so you can meet your new best friend, your new boss, new co-founder (you get where we’re going with this), as well as quiet areas for heads down work. It’s a new way of coworking, in a close-to-home location and you just happen to be in a room full of your neighbors. ##Join the first ever Rad Coworking## Be one of the first to experience a totally new way of coworking and connecting with your neighbors. **When?** September 5th 2024. 9am-5pm, drop in whenever you’d like! [Get your pass now](https://hello.radious.pro/neighborhood-coworking). **Where?** This special coworking day will be hosted at [this amazing Radspace near Laurelhurst Park](https://radious.pro/listing-details-guest/fjtxlqwgdkikmwgckb) — exact address and details will be sent to you once you get your pass. ##Community-First Coworking## Welcome to the future of coworking. create Calagator::Event 1250481284 Magnet - A Different Kind Of Networking Roll back

description nil What if the person who could further your career was already looking for you? What if a room full of people knew exactly the insight you sought? What if your knowledge could be someone else’s Eureka moment? Welcome to Magnet. Where you can let your net...work. Some of the feedback from previous Magnet events: "Genius." "Amazing!" "Brilliantly devised. 10/10." "Where has this been my whole life?" "Best Networking Event I've ever been to!" Here's how it works. At the event, you write down on a sheet of paper something you need help with (aka "your ask") and tape it on the wall, for example: I need a literary agent. I need to chat with someone who has started a technology incubator. I need to connect with someone at GOOD Magazine. I need to hire a web developer capable of setting up a digital sales platform. Does anyone have any contacts in Prague? Does anyone know a good personal trainer? Does anyone know how I can play a round at Augusta National Golf Club? It can be anything! Each sheet will have a unique number associated with it: (1, 2, 3, etc). You’ll have a name tag with that same number. Everyone’s task will be to look at the board of opportunities and select at least 3 people you’d like to connect with, in whatever capacity. How do you connect with them? You write your name and "sheet number" on a Post-It note and slap it on their sheet.

Main Talk: Notes from the blue team by Elaine Laguerta Hi! I'm a blue-team security engineer. I try to make it easier for devs to build software while balancing safety and security. In this talk I'll rant about some things I think you should know. *What we won't talk about*: the OWASP Top 10, how to do SQL injection, which hash functions are the most secure. I'll provide a list of links to answer questions like these! *What we will talk about*: A basic checklist for secure development, what new devs should learn, how experienced devs can stay up-to-date, and why a healthy team culture should be a core part of your security posture. Lightning Talks: Lightning talks are talks up to 5 minutes in length on any topic that might interest other Python people.

create Calagator::Event 1250481273 Demolicious - September 2024 Roll back

description nil Demolicious is back! This monthly pitch event brings together founders and the community to learn about what is being built here and around Portland. How this all works: If you are a founder, you will apply to pitch here: https://forms.gle/sx81RaT6Nuqj9sWR7. Teams Pitching: TBD Will you be the next founder to pitch!?!

create Calagator::Event 1250481271 In-Person Happy Hour at the Architectural Heritage Center Roll back

description nil PDT is thrilled to bring our community together for a special in-person event! Connect with fellow Design Thinkers for an evening of networking, engaging ideation activities, and the opportunity to share ideas in real-time, face-to-face. We’re especially excited to host this event at the Architectural Heritage Center. Located in the heart of Portland, the AHC is a key part of preserving the city’s architectural heritage, offering a setting that reflects the creativity and history of our community. It’s the perfect spot to connect, share ideas, and meet your fellow Portland Design Thinkers. Enjoy delicious food and beverages as we dive into creative conversations and build connections. Please RSVP and let us know if your plans change, so we can plan accordingly. Suggested Donation: $15 at the door to help cover food and beverage costs. If you're facing financial constraints, feel free to contribute whatever you can. Every little bit helps and we would love to see you there! *** If you have any questions or would like to connect with other members of PDT, join our Slack community. PDT is a volunteer-run Oregon nonprofit organization, and as you can imagine, organizing events can be expensive. We rely on sponsors and donations to help us offset these costs. If you would like to help, we accept donations through Venmo @PortlandDesignThinkers.
