The Mozilla office is close to the 11th&Couch stop and 10th&Couch stop on the NS streetcar line, and within walking distance of several bus lines. Covered bike parking is available in the courtyard that you cross to get to Mozilla's building, across from the Peet's Coffee and Tea seating area. The building is mostly wheelchair-accessible, in that there are no unavoidable stairs and the outside door has an automatic opening switch. Restroom doors on the 3rd floor and Mozilla office door are not automatic. Food is not planned for the event.

description <p><b>Presentation Summary:</b></p> <p>10 years ago, the world had yet to hear of "DevOps." The software development landscape was cold, unforgiving, and littered with power-mad systems administrators who held all of the keys in your quest for success as a developer.</p> <p>OK, so there may be a little hyperbole there. But the software development industry is changing rapidly, and we've gained a lot of ground even just in the past decade. update Calagator::Event 1250470019 Architecting Access to Healthcare Roll back

description In the face of massive healthcare changes, access to healthcare is a difficult and important problem to solve. Barriers to care access can include: price transparency, no price expectations, ineffective financing, general lack of convenience, dwindling numbers of physicians, inability to access transportation, unintegrated clinical information, limited hours of provider operations, confusing insurance coverage and difficult scheduling. At the same time, there are a plethora of new approaches, technologies, applications and services being created to improve access to healthcare. As consumer-centered care takes over as the norm, the expectations for care delivery services and access to health care are being compared to other services in our day to day life. Consumers are beginning to ask why things can’t be easier and why people in the healthcare industry can’t seem to cooperate to make the lives of consumers easier. Everyone in the industry has clearly gotten the message that consumer-centered healthcare is where the industry is heading; however, IT is still viewed as a barrier and an enabler. Enterprise architects have the difficult role of trying to help transform organizations to improve access to care by defining the business, information, technology and application architectures required to improve access to healthcare. At the same time, they are expected to solve the problem from the consumer’s perspective and make a complex healthcare system appear to be easy to navigate from the consumer’s perspective. Architects are expected to look across the landscape of technologies, information and business models and produce integrated solutions that leverage new developments and also break down existing IT barriers. In this session, you'll hear from three architects in healthcare about their views about how to solve the problem of access to health care. When registering, you will have a chance to submit your questions in helping to build the program. ### Panelists **[Ed Allison](https://www.linkedin.com/in/allisoned)** Enterprise Architect Cambia Health Solutions **[Pradip Ramani](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pradip-ramani-59a15b2)** Senior Manager Application Services Providence Health & Services **[Chris Coogan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/chriscoogan)** Director of Product & Technology SpendWell Health In the face of massive healthcare changes, access to healthcare is a difficult and important problem to solve. create Calagator::Event 1250470018 Untangling using Om.Next with Untangled w/ Tony Kay Roll back

description nil The Untangled web framework is a ClojureScript web framework that blends various web development libraries together with a good bit of glue code to make single-page webapps a breeze. Untangled leverages a lot of things that were pioneered in Om 1.0 by David Nolen, and adds it's own layers of simplification and opinion. It is a full-stack environment, but you can pick and choose the pieces you wish to use. We'll discuss the basic idea of the bits you need to develop an Om.Next app and cover how Untangled provides a lot of that for you. You may want to checkout this overview, companion video as well as the Om.Next quick start and the Untangled tutorial. Bio: Tony Kay works at NAVIS in Bend. He's been doing software development since the mid-80s in most of the common suspects: C, C++, Java, Scala, Clojure, Javascript. Tony is currently the technical lead on new software development, where he's driven the adoption of Clojure/Clojurescript and worked as the lead on the Untangled Web Framework project, which they use to develop our production software. His interests include fermenting random things for gluten-free sourdough bread, cooking, making software engineering better as a profession, and barefoot hiking.

create Calagator::Event 1250470008 Refresh Portland—Jane Austen on Python: Tips from an English Major on Writing Better Code Roll back

description nil With two English degrees, Lacey Williams Henschel has identified some concrete ways having a Lit background makes for a better developer. This talk discusses how developers can take lessons from literature to write more readable code, make better tests, and create more usable websites. We’ll compare Two Scoops of Django to Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style, that familiar Freshman Comp text, exploring how they are more alike than they are different. We’ll discuss the importance of readability, creating a “story arc” in your tests through good user stories, how variables names have characterization, and the importance of whitespace and good formatting to everyone. We’ll also compare PEP8, the Python style guide, to the MLA Handbook; there’s a reason both disciplines have a style guide!

description nil And so the story goes… …at the University of Oregon, Keeley and Erika were in their college apartment, scraping the bottom of yet another empty jar of peanut butter. As hungry college students and athletes, they ate a lot of peanut butter, and on this occasion, neither of them felt like biking to the store in the rain to buy more. So, they decided to try making their own! That day, Wild Friends was born. More than four years have passed since the day they made that first jar. They’ve left their college apartment behind and are now based in Portland, Oregon. They’ve launched dozens of new flavors of nut butter and sell in thousands of stores across the country. However, despite all these changes, a few things have stayed the same — most importantly, their passion for awesome tasting products, made with the healthiest whole ingredients they can find.
