Brand Camp
Roll back
| description |

Day 2 - What's making you feel lost in your marketing?
Your Brand, your Marketing, is one of those things that feels like it should be easy; people act like it should come naturally. You try, but indecision paralyzes you, and everything sounds over-the-top, too weak, or just ...sigh... weird.
So, where to start? To kickstart? To Re-Start?
Youâve got the passion, you love what you do, and hell, quite frankly, the world needs you. (If only they knew about you.)
Enter Green Rising. Why pay big, fancy agency fees, when DIY is way more fun? Weâll teach you everything we know (and can fit into 2 days), so you can up your game, get focused, and share your inner powerhouse with the rest of the world.
You deserve it.
On Day 1 of Brand Camp youâll learn how to:
-articulate the WHY of what you do
-find your best customers
-stand. out.
How can we top that? On Day 2, youâll learn how to:
-carry out your vision on your own terms with the basics of marketing and social media (insta-what?), and make real, live connections to experts in graphic design, web design, photography and more.
Details: You will work intensively to sharpen your marketing tools and tactical implementation, all while making great connections within a small class size. Be prepared to have homework every week and really get to know your business in a new way.
When: Nov. 5th (session 1) & Nov. 19th (session 2)
Where: 1306 NW Hoyt St. #300, Portland, OR 97209
Pricing: $150 for one session, $250 if you sign up for both at the same time (includes lunch @ Paragon)
Email [email protected] if you're interested!

TiE Pearl Pitch Club featuring speaker Jeff Smith
Roll back

Join TiE Pearl Pitch Club, a series of sessions whe you can practice your pitching skills.
TiE Pearl Pitch Club is designed as a supportive environment in which to try out your presentation - in front of a group of peers, including established entrepreneurs, and others just getting their start. Bring your pitches, with or without slides (bring your laptop to plug into the A/V system), and walk away with valuable feedback and coaching.
At the start of this session, TiE Charter Member Jeff Smith of NY investment banking firm Berkery Noyes & Co., will speak on the topic:
<b>How to add value to a business for a successful exit. </b>

Jazz & CLM Overview
The Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management is a set of seamlessly integrated tools that work together to improve solution delivery. Full lifecycle traceability improves quality by understanding the relationships between artifacts across all disciplines. It allows teams to find and close traceability gaps to ensure full coverage across requirements, design, development, and test. A level of transparency is provided that enables everyone to make informed decisions based on business priorities.
In this presentation, Carson Holmes, will show how Requirements Composer, Team Concert, and Quality Manager can be used together to realize full lifecycle traceability. He will show how lifecycle projects can be administered and review a number of features and usage scenarios for CLM. He will also review the other products available on the Jazz platform and how these various Rational tools complement each other.
Speaker Bio:
Carson Holmes is a management consultant, methodologist, software engineer, and educator. He is the EVP of Service Delivery at Software Development Experts, and President of the Global Rational User Community.

Thanks to Aubri and Thetus Corporation we have a space for the next meeting. I'll lead a casual hands on workshop/class and we will cover
- Introductions
- Overview of native iOS development
- Intro to Objective-C and Xcode
- Walk through a simple "Hello World" style app
Feel free to bring a Mac laptop with Xcode 5 installed if you'd like to follow along or want to ask questions afterwards. We'll be using Xcode 5 and iOS 7.
I've created a resources page with info that may help you get started developing for iOS. You can check it out at http://e-string.com/resources/
It particular, you may want to take a look at the first few resources from Apple and download and install Xcode before Monday.
Thanks.

"No talks. You may opt to take up to 60 seconds to complain about Big Data. One paper per month, no obligation to read it."

This month's paper is [Computational Methods for Dynamic Graphs](http://www2.research.att.com/~volinsky/papers/cpv.ps) by Cortes, Pregibon, and Volinsky. Read it or don't - the goal is just to have something to start conversations. "Did you read the paper?" will do nicely.
Mention @PDXBigData on Twitter with the link to the full paper to suggest papers for future sessions. |

Women Who Hack
Roll back
| description |

This will be a casual get together for women who want to hack on projects with or around other women. All types of projects (software and hardware), languages, platforms and experience levels are welcome.
Don't have anything to work on? Come, and we'll help you find a project!
What you should bring:
* Your laptop or other equipment
* Your lovely self!
We'll provide:
* the space, including lots of seating and tables
* internet
* some snacks, including gluten-free and vegan options.
Our goal is to support local women hackers (and aspiring hackers) by providing a safe, welcoming environment in which you can connect with and learn from each other.
We're kid-friendly, too, so feel free to bring your children with you.
Women Who Hack is open to all self-identified women and genderqueer persons, as well as accompanied children of all genders.
All participants of Women Who Hack agree to follow the <a href="http://citizencodeofconduct.org/">Citizen Code of Conduct</a>.
Questions? Get in touch: [email protected].
Our Google Group is <a href="https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/women-who-hack">https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/women-who-hack</a>. |
