create Calagator::Event 1250472018 Running Elasticsearch on Azure Roll back

description nil Deploying to Azure has never been easier with the inception and continual improvement of Azure Resource Management (ARM) templates. At Elastic, we've had an ARM template in the Azure Marketplace for quite a while, able to deploy an unlimited size Elasticsearch cluster in a variety of topologies, and including a Kibana UI visualisation web frontend in addition to plugins for security, monitoring and alerting. We will share our experience developing ARM templates, and how we brought them to the Azure marketplace. https://www.meetup.com/Portland-Azure-User-Group/events/240512064/

description nil In today’s age of analytics, businesses are demanding self-service access to their corporate data, while struggling to make sense of raw data at the source. In response to this, recent analyst reports have revealed a new form of BI architecture known as Governed Data Discovery. These architectures are immense data structures that, while able to address recent needs, are daunting for even large teams of BI professionals to build using traditional methods. However, with the use of automation software, these structures can be built and maintained by just one person with some data modeling experience. We will go into detail about some of the driving factors of Governed Data Discovery and explain how leading automation software can enable even small organizations to benefit from this approach. What Attendees Will Learn from Presentation: <ul> <li> The different factors driving Governed Data Discovery including the Gap between Business and IT. </li> <li> What is Governed Data discovery? What does this type of data architecture look like? </li> <li> How Automation software can address the challenges in building & maintaining such an architecture. </li> </ul> <h3>Schedule</h3> 8:30 – 9:00 am – Sign In<br> 9:00 – 10:15 am – Presentation<br> 10:15 – 10:30 am – Break, Chapter Announcements<br> 10:30 – 11:30 am – Presentation continued<br> <h3>Cost</h3> Free for Members!<br> $15 for Non-Members<br> $5 for Students with valid student ID<br> See our corporate members at damapdx.org <h3>About DAMA Portland</h3> The Portland Metro Chapter of the Data Administration Management Association has been serving the Portland data community since 1984. update Calagator::Event 1250472011 PDX Women in Tech (PDXWIT) Happy Hour Networking Event Roll back

description ** Please RSVP on Eventbrite ** Join us for happy hour at PricewaterhouseCoopers on June 27th. With summer upon us, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the end of the school year. We’ve all been students and many of us are parents, so we know how important education is and wanted to build our June event theme around it. The conversation starter this month is “If you were a high school student today, which class would you want to take?” While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase three women in our community. • Introduction to PwC, including what they do and what job opportunities are available. • Marie Xun Wang, Postdoctoral Researcher at OHSU, will give us pointers on transitioning out of school into the professional world. • Esbeida Ramos and Nikki Whitton, both STEM Event Coordinators at nConnect NW, will talk about preparing the future workforce. During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking: • An Activity Table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director. • Table Topics to help break-the-ice. • A section for job seekers and those hiring, to ensure people get connected. PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Trans and non-binary people are always welcome at our events. ** Please RSVP on Eventbrite ** Join us for happy hour at PricewaterhouseCoopers on June 27th. description ** Please RSVP on Eventbrite ** Join us for happy hour at PricewaterhouseCoopers on June 27th. ** Please RSVP on Eventbrite ** Join us for happy hour at PricewaterhouseCoopers on June 27th. create Calagator::Event 1250472005 PDX PHP - Using the Null Object Pattern Roll back

description nil <p>Food, give-a-ways, speakers and a great time to network with the fabulous PHP Community!</p> <p>Using the Null Object Pattern</p> <p>When you develop OO PHP applications, you'll eventually get the error message "PHP Notice: Trying to get property of non-object". You can add a conditional to check if an object is null. There is however a better way. Null Object Pattern is a design pattern that helps you to simplify your application logic. The Null Object patthern removes the need to check for an object vs null by using Polymorphism. I'll demonstrate how it works with generic PHP code, and how you can apply it to work with database results.</p> <p><br><b>Presented by Andrew Woods</b></p> <p><img src="https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/8/7/a/event_461511322.jpeg"><br>Andrew Woods is a seasoned Web Developer, and a command line aficionado. He's been making websites since 1999. He organizes the Seattle PHP User Group (@seaphp) and Pacific Northwest PHP conference (@pnwphp). He's an advocate for the open web, and values accessibility and design. He has a knack for making difficult topics easy to understand. In his free time, Andrew enjoys coffee, movies, exploring the city, and playing guitar. He is currently learning to speak Spanish.</p>

create Calagator::Event 1250472004 Introduction to Tor Roll back

description nil Join us for a combined meeting with Seattle TA3M! Congress has recently repealed the upcoming Internet privacy protections that the FCC passed back in 2015. Those protections required Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to get permission from their users before selling user data to third parties. Now, ISPs will be able to sell our Internet browsing histories and other data to the highest bidder. But wait… You don't have to give them all of your data! You can instead use Tor, also known as The Onion Router, to encrypt your search requests and browsing activity and route your Internet traffic through a distributed network of relays (run by volunteers around the world) in order to protect your privacy. Tor prevents anyone watching your Internet connection from seeing your location or which websites you visit. It can also help you to access blocked sites. Alison Macrina, from the Library Freedom Project will be talking to both groups, Seattle TA3M and us, via teleconference. She'll explain how Tor works, how you can set it up, and how you can help Tor to make the network more secure for all users. We'll have snacks, and there will be an opportunity for networking following the talk. We hope to see you there! Speaker bio: Alison Macrina is a librarian, internet activist, the founder and director of the Library Freedom Project, and a core contributor to The Tor Project. Alison is passionate about connecting surveillance issues to larger global struggles for justice, demystifying privacy and security technologies for ordinary users, and resisting an internet controlled by a handful of intelligence agencies and giant multinational corporations.
