July Meetup: Schema.org - Good, Bad or Meh?
Roll back
| description |
Portland Semantic Web Interest Group
Monthly meetup! A lot has happened in the last month in the Semantic Web! Google, Bing and Yahoo! have joined forces to guide the development of embedded semantics in Web pages. Not everyone is happy about this! Come and discuss the implications of Schema.org now that the dust has settled and people have had time to think about what it really means.
After the tech talk we'll have some social time at a local watering hole.

PDXW&D: Monthly Happy Hour
Roll back
| description |

If you're like me, you spend WAYYYY too much time in front of a computer. I think it would be great to have a monthly get together at a bar or pub to just get to know each other, have a brew, and yes, talk about the business. Real human interaction, in other words. Repeats the last Tuesday of every month. |

Part hackathon, part geek social, these biweekly meetings are a time for you to come join others for insight, inspiration or just insanity. Bring your toys for others to see, or come see what others have been painstakingly chipping away at in their spare time. Whether it's code or chips, hacking of all sorts is encouraged. But we also like to hear your crazy ideas, so please come join us and bring your willingness to share your brilliance. We'll be the kids with all the coolest stuff on the table. Hope to see you there. |

The topic this month is Source Code Control. Steve Riggins will talk about git, Simran Gleason will talk about Subversion, and if he's available Dave Camp will talk about Mercurial. The idea is not to compare and contrast the options but merely to have someone who is a fan of each tell us the good, bad and ugly about their chosen SCC method.
Assuming the iPhone Learning project is over at this point (it could get delayed again if summer slows people down), we'll return to having an open Q&A session after the meeting, followed by/continued over beer. |

Lion will be shipping sometime in July, so by the time this meeting rolls around most of us will already have it. Steve Riggins will give a presentation on what we need to know about Lion, both as users and developers.
Afterwards we'll do the sixth (and final!) month of iPhone Learning, and head for beer. |

Stroke diagnosis using iPhone app extremely accurate study finds
Study Shows Widespread Clinical Usage of Mobile Apps Becoming Greater Likelihood
