ThursdayOct 12 20174K 4Charity Fun Run
The 3rd annual 4K 4Charity Fun Run PDX will take place on October 12 at 3:00 pm. The 4km (2.49 mile) out-and-back course starts and ends under the Burnside bridge, and runs along the Willamette River. Our beautiful waterfront course is ADA accessible and suitable for all ages and athletic abilities. Register by September 18 and receive a complimentary participant shirt.
With support from the Portland technology community, this event unifies Portland and encourages giving back. Participants and sponsors can expect an afternoon filled with activities, local food and drink, and of course, exercise!
All proceeds benefit nonprofit organizations that support increased diversity and inclusion initiatives. This year, our beneficiary partners are Rosemary Anderson High School and KairosPDX. The 4K 4Charity Fun Run is unique in that 100% of individual registration fees are donated directly to our nonprofit partners. Since the inaugural 4K 4Charity Fun Run event took place at IBC in 2014, the series has raised more than $450,000 USD in gross proceeds for nonprofit organizations and attracted nearly 4,000 participants.
The deadline for sponsorship commitments is August 25. All sponsorship inquiries can be directed to Kate Incerto at [email protected].

Tom McCall Waterfront ParkCome and freeze your tushie off for science! A total lunar eclipse will mark the solstice this year. Bring binoculars, telescopes, cameras, and hot drinks.
From NASA:
"Early in the morning on December 21 a total lunar eclipse will be visible to sky watchers across North America (for observers in western states the eclipse actually begins late in the evening of December 20), Greenland and Iceland. Viewers in Western Europe will be able to see the beginning stages of the eclipse before moonset, and in western Asia the later stages of the eclipse will be visible after moonrise.
From beginning to end, the eclipse will last about three hours and twenty-eight minutes. For observers on the east coast of the U.S. the eclipse lasts from 1:33am EST through 5:01 a.m. EST. Viewers on the west coast will be able to tune in a bit earlier. For them the eclipse begins at 10:33 p.m. PST on December 20 and lasts until 2:01am PST on Dec. 21. Totality, the time when Earth's shadow completely covers the moon, will last a lengthy 72 minutes."
