Have you been wondering how to break into the tech industry? There are some specific things you can do to land that dream opportunity. In collaboration with our community partner, Dress for Success Oregon and event host Zapproved, join us for an evening panel discussion where you’ll learn from folks who’ve successfully broken into the industry. .
You’ll also get some insider tips from the perspective of recruiters. Learn about what they look for in candidates who are pivoting into tech from other industries, and how you can be placed into tech organizations.
Fueling belonging is one of PDXWIT’s core missions and we’re thrilled that Dress for Success Oregon is our partner for this event! In addition to our panel conversation and recruiter tips, you’ll also learn more about Dress for Success Oregon from their Executive Director Sarah Rothenfluch.
We want to create a space that breaks down the intimidation factor of the tech industry, while showing how the skills folks have already developed can apply to tech jobs.

COVID Safety FAQ: Q: Will masks be required in indoor spaces? Will masks be required outside? Will hand sanitizer be provided and plentiful? A: Masks are optional and our host will provide hand sanitizer. We will ask all attendees to show proof of vaccination OR have a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the event.
Event FAQ Q: What is the in-person event capacity? A: 120 in-person attendees.
Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms? A: Yes
Q: Is the space ADA accessible? A: Yes
Q: Will there be food and drink at this event? A: Yes. Light appetizers and drinks will be provided.
Q: What is the parking situation? A: There is metered street parking available.
Q: Is there any special information that might help me find the entrance? A: There are two entrances. Off of NW Raleigh Street between NW 22nd and NW 21st -This entrance has push-button operable doors from the street -A set of 3-4 stairs to a landing platform followed by another set of push button operable doors -A small ADA lift is available as well
An East entrance to the Leland James building is also available -This entrance is in a central quad between NW Raleigh & NW Savier -The entrance door is located between Sunshine Noodles & Good Coffee -This entrance is accessible by stairs or a ramp
From either entrance, take the elevators to the 4th floor where Zapproved offices are located. The exterior building doors will lock at 6PM.
Q: Is there secured bike parking? A: Yes, with assistance. Contact [email protected] if you will need to secure your bike.
Q: Should I consider using public transportation? A: Yes. While there is street parking it will be busy and is limited.
Q: Can I bring my dog? A: Sadly, no.
