  <div class="vevent h-event"> <h1 class="summary p-name">Initial Meeting</h1> <div class='date'><time class="dtstart dt-start" title="2014-11-05T18:30:00" datetime="2014-11-05T18:30:00">Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 6:30pm</time></div> <div class="description p-description"> <p>This Wednesday, we have an opportunity to explore the state of data with respect to long term storage & retrieval.</p> <p> </p><p>Organizer’s Goal: To establish a forum through which Portland data professionals can network, discuss their experiences, and exchange insights with respect to long term preservation & access.</p> <p>Agenda:</p> <p>1) I will make a relatively short presentation on the topic of data curation, including discussion of Data Lifecycles, Representation, Transformation, Context Layers, Appraisal, Collection Development, Risk Assessment and Priorities.</p> <p><br>2) Open discussion, and expansion on topic. Attendees are welcome to remain anonymous, given any proprietary or privacy concerns.</p> <p>3) Determine where to go next.</p> <p><br>Given that the number of initial members exceeded my expectations, I jumped from trying pick a café/bar, and instead booked a conference room for the evening.</p> <p>No RSVP?
