IEEE Oregon RAS - Enabling Autonomous and Industrial Robots with NI LabVIEW Robotics
Description
Enabling Autonomous and Industrial Robots with NI LabVIEW Robotics Christoph Wimmer, National Instruments
Wednesday June 9th, 2010 - 7-9pm
Joint meeting of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society - Portland Chapter OHSU Division of Biomedical Engineering
Paul Clayton Building, room PC-410 20000 NW Walker Rd Beaverton, OR 97006
Abstract
From autonomous farming vehicles to medical mobile systems, NI LabVIEW Robotics provides a standard hardware and software development platform for designing robotic control system. The LabVIEW Robotics Module plugs into the LabVIEW development environment and delivers an extensive robotics library with built-in connectivity to robotic sensors and actuators, foundational algorithms for intelligent operation and robust perception, and motion functions for making robots or vehicles move. The NI LabVIEW graphical programming language makes it easy to program complex robotics applications by providing a high level of abstraction for sensor communication, obstacle avoidance, path planning, kinematics, steering, and more.
Speaker
Christoph Wimmer, the National Instruments embedded business development manager for Washington, Oregon, and California. Christoph joined NI in 1998 after graduating from Graz University of Technology in Austria with a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
