create Calagator::Event 1250458746 Galois Tech Talk: Large-Scale Static Analysis at Mozilla Roll back

description nil presenter: Taras Glek abstract: A competitive browser market requires fast-paced improvements to the codebase. Such improvements may require significant refactoring of large parts of the codebase. Mozilla Firefox is one of the largest open source C++ projects. Unfortunately C++ is a complex language: method overloading, virtual functions, template instantiation, pointer arithmetic, etc reduce developer productivity. Mozilla developed C++ static analysis and refactoring tools to increase developer leverage in C++. Static analysis is done via Dehydra/Treehydra GCC plugins and refactoring is accomplished by extending the Elsa C++ parser. This talk will discuss why Mozilla needs static analysis, why there are so few tools for C++, and specific projects that we’ve embarked on.

Webinar information: URL: http://my.dimdim.com/ieee-oregon Call-in phone # 702-473-3463 (long distance) Call-in pass code: 433306 Abstract ZigBee is a set of application profiles, built on top of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which defines a low cost, low power, reliable mesh network with guaranteed interoperability with other like networks. IEEE 802.15.4 defines a robust choice of peer-to-peer, star, tree and mesh networks – all optimized for low-bandwidth, low-power monitoring and control. In addition to define the upper layers in the ISO OSI protocol, ZigBee has defined several application profiles including: • Smart Energy — Defines the features of the Home Area Network for Smart Grid enabled appliance, lights, heating, cooling, and electric vehicle charging • Home Automation — Smart lighting, advanced temperature control, safety and security, movies and music, water sensors, power sensors, energy monitoring, smoke and fire detectors, and access sensors • Telecom (mobile) Services — m-payment, m-monitoring and control, m-security and access control, and location aware services. • Building Automation — Energy monitoring, HVAC, lighting, access control, asset management, environmental management, and energy management. • Health Care — secure and reliable monitoring of patients with chronic diseases This talk with discuss the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, the ZigBee stack, and how the standard is able to support low power sensor networks with and without the ZigBee stack. Speaker Charles Lord , P.E., is a consulting engineer with over 30 years of experience in the embedded systems, RF, military and medical device pharmaceutical fields. update Calagator::Event 1250458492 PDXPHP - Monthy Meeting Roll back

description The PDXPHP user groups meets every 3rd Tuesday. <strong><em>This Meeting topic is still to be determined.</em></strong> Typically this posting will be updated with the meeting details a <em>few</em> weeks before the meeting <strong>Our Mission: </strong>The Portland PHP Users Group is a community forum for people to share, meet and learn about PHP and Open Source technologies. The group strives to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in PHP regardless of their skill level or background. Through sharing and communication we believe we can foster a creative and successful community of PHP developers. As more and more PHP applications move into the object-oriented paradigm, good design is crucial. Concepts like dependency injection, testing, use of interfaces and abstraction are important ideas that deserve consideration in the development of these applications. "Five Tips To Make Good Object-Oriented Code Better" is a discussion of five concepts in the object-oriented paradigm that help improve the stability, structure and maintainability of object-oriented code in PHP. The speaker, <a href="www.brandonsavage.net">Brandon Savage</a>, is a five-year veteran of PHP with experience working on large object-oriented applications, and currently works for Message Systems, based in Columbia, MD.

create Calagator::Event 1250458731 PDX TechCoffee Roll back

description nil Season 2, episode 5 Get up early and work on your side projects with some like-minded geeks! TechCoffee is part running club, part knitting bee, and part hackathon. It's hard to work on all of your amazing ideas after a long workday, so instead we get up early. And we get together, so we have the reinforcement of other people up early, too. A couple hours a week can make a big difference. So bring your laptops and your work ethic to PDX TechCoffee. Or, if you can't be there in person, join us on IRC at #techcoffee on freenode. One commit a week is all we ask.
