create Calagator::Event 1250459159 OEN Workshop: What's your company worth? Everything you need to know about company valuation Roll back

description nil As an early stage entrepreneur looking for the first round of funding, one of the most daunting tasks may be determining the valuation of your company. In this workshop, we will cover the basics of valuing a seed or launch stage company, and answer some questions, such as: • Who sets the valuation - the company or the investor? • What does pre-money and post-money valuation mean? How do I calculate it? • How do I value my company if we don’t yet have revenues? • How do investors determine the valuation? • How have valuations changed in the economic downturn? We'll explain the terminology, demystify the math and explain some of the ways that valuation is set during the funding process. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so come armed with your questions and be ready to participate in a lively discussion about valuing early stage companies. OEN Member Registration: $30.00 Non-member Registration: $70.00

description nil With HP's recent purchase of Palm, not only has Palm been revitalized, but the Pacific Northwest has gained new connections to Palm. HP has campus in Vancouver, WA. And one of Palm's own developer advocates, Joshua Marinacci, lives in Eugene. Joshua is in town to attend OSCON and will be joining us to talk about Palm's webOS and mobile web technology. Here is a brief description of what Joshua will be talking about: The core of the great smartphones by Palm Inc. is a brand new operating system called webOS. Built from pieces of the web, webOS is designed with the core features of the web in mind: sharing, linking, and easily developing applications with open standards like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. In this session you'll learn an overview of webOS, the devices which run it, and an introduction to quickly programming webOS apps with web standards. In addition, Joshua will touch on where Palm is headed and what opportunities there are for applications and services on webOS devices. <b>About Joshua Marinacci</b> Josh Marinacci is a blogger and co-author of Swing Hacks for O’Reilly. He is currently a Developer Advocate for the webOS at Palm, Inc. He previously worked on JavaFX, Swing, NetBeans, and client lead for the Java Store at Sun Microsystems. Josh lives in Eugene, Oregon and is passionate about open source technology & great user interfaces. He uses a Palm Pre, MacBook Pro, and Nikon D50 SLR to spread understanding of great design in software.

description nil Two facts. One: Portlanders love breakfast. Two: Portland is blessed with a plethora of breakfast places just waiting to be tried. Dockside Saloon & Restaurant. This will be our second Infamous Portland History field trip. It was in their trash that the evidence incriminating Tonya Harding for clubbing Nancy Kerrigan was (poorly) hidden. PDX Breakfast is a very loosely affiliated group of folks who get together on alternate Thursdays to partake of Portland’s breakfast bounty. Generally somewhere between 4 and 12 folks show up for any given PDXBreakfast. We alternate sides of the river* and location selections are usually made by whoever shows up for breakfast. RSVPs are not required, but they are helpful because it helps waitstaff seat us appropriately. *We do go to North Portland for breakfast. Like all Portlanders, we tend to define location by east or west despite living in a city with 5 quadrants.
