update Calagator::Event 1250463206 Portland Code School Meet and Greet Roll back

description Portland Code School is entering its second session and we want to invite you to find out more information while consuming beer and pizza. If you've dabbled with Rails but haven't quite made it to paid developer status yet this may be just the program for you. *The Program* The class will take 3 months and by the end we expect that you will be ready to start work as a junior programmer immediately. This internship is not a requirement for employment at BD and is no guarantee of employment, but it is a great way to get into the field and a great way to network with tech organizations. *The Event* The introduction event will allow you to connect with the instructors and the organizers behind the internship program while eating delicious pizza and consuming beverages. We will go over the format of the program, talk about the requirements needed to enter, and the application process. At the end we will have time for you to talk to coaches and BD employees about what it's like to work for BD and what sorts of projects we work on. description nil Teacher: Sherry Alexis Maximum students: 7 It's easy to write updates once you have started a Wordpress-based website, but what else can you do? Learn the ins-and-outs of Wordpress, the most popular open source blogging platform (and occasional content management system) available. Students will leave the class with an understanding of the different roles available to contributers. They will also practice searching for and adding plug-ins as well as modify the look of their websites. Students must have a Wordpress.com login to attend the class. Our students accomplish this in Free Geek's Getting Yourself Online class.

create Calagator::Event 1250463186 JobGroup Special Event: Informational Interviews, Networking, & Professional Photos Roll back

description nil Come learn about a valuable career skill while enjoying an opportunity to de-stress a bit from the holidays and career search with some informal networking! Journalists know it, so why don't job seekers? The best way to get information...is an informational interview! Join us for a brief (15 minute) presentation on informational interview best practices that will include tangible actions you can take right away to improve your career management or job search. Also, did you know that according to a study by TheLadders.com, nearly 20% of the time a typical recruiter spends looking at your LinkedIn profile is spent looking at your photo?!? JobGroup is here to help. We are partnering with local photographer LeeAnn Gauthier at this event to provide an optional opportunity to get quality photos done for a very reasonable price. She will bring her portable studio-quality setup to OnDeck to give anyone who needs a good photo taken an opportunity to have one done. If you want photos taken, the deal is this: For an upfront fee of $19 for one digital file (image) or 2 files (images) for $32, LeeAnn will do a studio-quality photoshoot with you at the event and provide access to her website for checking out the photos afterward. You provide back to her which photos you want and she will send them to you. Credit cards can not be accepted for this, so please bring cash or check if you want to take advantage of this opportunity, and remember to dress professionally to get the best use of your new photos. About LeeAnn: LeeAnn Gauthier brings her portable photo studio to JobGroup. Bring your suit and launch your modeling career! After 5 years as The Oregonian's society columnist, she currently helps nonprofits get ink while exhibiting her fine art travel images, making editorial images, and recording your wedding. www.studiogauthier.zenfolio.com
