update Calagator::Event 1250463714 HiMSS - Oregon Chapter presents: "Countdown to Meltdown? Preparing Your Organization for Health Reform & the Brave New Healthcare World" Roll back

description HiMSS Oregon http://www.himss-oregon.org/ welcomes – J.D. Kleinke a pioneering health care information entrepreneur, medical economist, author, policy expert, and business strategist. WHEN: Thursday, March 14th, 2013 from 5:00pm-8:30pm 5:00-6:00 – Registration and Networking 6:00-7:30 – Presentation** 7:30-8:30 – Networking Reception WHERE: The Nines Hotel, 525 SW Morrison, Portland, Oregon 97204 DETAILS: What does the actual health reform plan look like, what happens when 30 million new people enter the “system” as we know it, and what will it all mean for your organization? “Obamacare” has survived the Supreme Court, but the health reform law itself may be overshadowed by larger shifts in market power - and continuing government budget crises, as lawmakers target Medicare and Medicaid as sources of major savings. This session provides a critical overview of where health care stands today; the latest on spending trends and market dynamics; and how the health reform plan will play out for all major stakeholders, including providers, payers, employers, patients and consumers. This session examines the concurrent effects of the reform plan, health insurance market upheavals, increasing patient economic empowerment, and emerging information technologies on today’s health care organization. And it lays out a practical framework and set of critical success factors for your organization going forward, as health care faces the greatest challenges and changes in our lifetimes. J.D.Kleinke has been instrumental in the creation of four health care information organizations, most notably HealthGrades. He has helped hospital systems, insurers and physician groups prepare for medical computerization and health reform; provided business, product and technology strategy services to new and established health care companies; and sat on the Boards of several public and privately held health information companies. In 2012, he was a Resident Fellow of the American Enterprise Institute. Mr. Kleinke has authored three books on the U.S. health care system, Bleeding Edge: The Business of Health Care in the New Century and Oxymorons: The Myth of a U.S. Health Care System, and Catching Babies (2011). His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Barron’s, Health Affairs, JAMA, the British Medical Journal, Modern Healthcare, Managed Healthcare, Forbes, and numerous other publications. Since his earliest writings on health policy and market dynamics in The Wall Street Journal in the early 1990s, Mr. Kleinke has long been known as a forceful, non-partisan advocate for an evidence-driven, computerized, patient-centric health care system. **This program has been submitted for review and approval of continuing education (CE) hours for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHMS) Registration is now open for the conference. https://secure100.telusys.net/gregistration-bin/display2_preview?&ctid=1696121847441156&rfid=9659143976368037&tmid=136 HiMSS Oregon http://www.himss-oregon.org/ welcomes – J.D. update Calagator::Event 1250463705 The Lean Entrepreneur Book Tour - Portland Roll back

description Are you a Visionary? Come enjoy food and drink, while hearing what Brant Patrick have to say about your visionary status. If you don't have the book, buy the book on Amazon or your local bookseller, and then bring your proof of purchase to the event.  (Early Adopters just need their name - you know who you are.)   ****** Here's what influencers are saying about The Lean Entrepreneur:   "The Lean Startup methodology has become a fundamentally critical approach to creating and building a startup. If you are a startup entrepreneur, this is a must-read book for your startup journey." —Brad Feld, Managing Director, Foundry Group; co-founder, TechStars; and creator of the Startup Revolution series of books "If you're an entrepreneur, making stupid mistakes is inevitable. The Lean methodology will help you cut down on them drastically. Do yourself a favor and pick up The Lean Entrepreneur. It will make your journey into the unknown much, much smoother."—Julien Smith, New York Times bestselling co-author of Trust Agents "This fascinating new book shows that at the intersection of disruption and lean company thinking, there is a new world of: lean entrepreneurship—empowered individuals who bring the world kicking and screaming into the future. I can't wait."—Paul Kedrosky "The Lean Entrepreneur cruises at 50,000 feet with a view of the context we are operating in today's economy. At the same time, it dives deep into key ways the new startup tools, frameworks, and mechanisms can be leveraged to take advantage of a world filled with uncertainty and opportunity."—Scott Case, CEO, Startup America Partnership ****** Remember, get in free when you buy the book on Amazon or your local bookseller, and then bring your proof of purchase to the event.  #track_event_container { display: none; } Save This Event When Where Urban Airship 334 NW 11th Ave Portland, OR Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 5:30 PM (PST) Add to my calendar Outlook Calendar Google Calendar Yahoo! description nil SQAUG Presents: Murky Waters: Where Do Tests Come From? A discussion about requirements, and other sources for the development of test cases Moderated by: Mary Torres Lead QA Engineer, Viewpoint Construction Software, Portland, OR at Con-Way 2055 NW Savier, Portland, OR 97209 on Wednesday April 17, 2013 5:30pm until 7:30pm Where do tests come from? Pittsburg. No not really. Actually, we hope to discuss the various sources for tests in the different SDLC environments. We want everyone to share good practices for gleaning information needed for testing, including; rummaging through requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, code commentary, etc. Do your Product Managers write up test cases, DEV’s? Business Analysts? Tech facilitators? Remember Use Cases? Much of what we used to do, has become muddled and wrapped up in terminology and processes that no longer mean the same things they used to. Let’s talk it through and see if we can help each other in this murky water. Mary Torres; our moderator for this event currently works at Viewpoint Construction Software as Lead QA Engineer. She a degree in Computer Science, has almost 17 years working in the software industry, and has worked in QA for that entire time. Her work experience includes QA management, automated testing, and functional testing. She is also a certified scrum master. Mary has worked on projects that have utilized traditional Waterfall and Agile/Scrum SDLC’s. Event is FREE and Open to the Public Agenda: 5:30-6:00PM: Pizza, Networking and SQAUG Announcements 6:00-7:30PM: Scheduled Moderator: Mary Torres Details: • Event is Free to the public • Onsite parking (directions below) • Light dinner and beverages will be served • No RSVP is required to attend SQAUG is Portland/Vancouver area’s only Software Quality Assurance User Group! We are NEW, and would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who would like to participate in a user group dedicated to growing the Quality Assurance field. SQAUG is made up of a group of SQA professionals who have banded together in an open forum to learn from each other through a series of interactive discussions, engaged debates, training presentations, exploring tools, and general networking and sharing of job opportunities. Our goals are to expand knowledge about Software Quality to all professionals who are passionate about their careers, and take Software Quality seriously.
