Come join other Scala fans, whether you're a seasoned oldtimer or complete beginner. We'll have open discussions and a variety of presentations and examples. If you have topics you're interested in hearing more about or something you'd like to give a presentation on, please let us know! Also, feel free to bring code you'd like to show off or get input on from the rest of the group!
As we've been doing for some months now, the first hour of tonight's meeting will be oriented towards people who are new to Scala. If you have questions you'd like to ask about general usage, specific libraries, or overall understanding of the ecosystem, we'll be here to help you find your way. For everyone else, we'll have plenty of extra time tonight for any other discussions and topics, so if you have something you'd like to talk about or code you'd like to show, come prepared! We'll have pizza here at 6, so come early if you're hungry. |

From Idea to Funding: Launching Your Project on Crowd Supply
Roll back
| description |

Been toying with crowdfunding your latest project? This class provides an in-depth introduction to crowdfunding and will arm you with everything you need to know to launch your campaign on Crowd Supply, Portland's own crowdfunding platform. Come prepared with a project or two and we'll help you determine if crowdfunding makes sense for you and, if so, how to put together the campaign.
By the end of the second meeting, we hope several participants will be up and running with their own campaigns, though the class is also appropriate for anyone just looking to learn more. In addition to crowdfunding fundamentals, the class will also cover Crowd Supply in particular and how it compares to Kickstarter.
Cost: $20
This is a two session class that meets from 6:30-9:30 PM on the following Tuesdays: July 30th and August 6th |

Part hackathon, part geek social, these biweekly meetings are a time for you to come join others for insight, inspiration or just insanity. Bring your toys for others to see, or come see what others have been painstakingly chipping away at in their spare time. Whether it's code or chips, hacking of all sorts is encouraged. But we also like to hear your crazy ideas, so please come join us and bring your willingness to share your brilliance. We'll be the kids with all the coolest stuff on the table. Hope to see you there. |

Mozilla Research Engineers Jack Moffitt & Patrick Walton (possibly Brian Anderson too) are in town for OSCON & will be making an appearance to talk <a href="http://github.com/mozilla/rust">Rust</a>!
Patrick will be giving us a talk & demo RE: his NES emulator <a href="http://github.com/pcwalton/sprocketnes">sprocketnes</a>, and Jack will be discussing the ways in which the Rust type system helps keep <a href="http://github.com/mozilla/servo">Servo</a> developers safe from the pitfalls of parallelism.
Oh, and free beer & pizza for all :) |
