Please join us on March 20th as we recognize Nat Parker, Co-founder of GlobeSherpa (purchased by moovel North America).
Starting in 2013, Nat received ongoing mentorship and early investment from the TiE Oregon Angels. Along with his team, Nat grew his company and returned that investment! And…just a few years later, sold the company to moovel North America. We are thrilled to celebrate Nat’s success and the support he now gives to the entrepreneur community.
In addition, we will take a look back and celebrate accomplishments made in 2018 which include:
– $1.75 Million invested in 14 Companies! — And that is just through November. We will likely have another investment before the end of the year!

They have helped many companies, both Fortune 500 and mid-sized, navigate complex projects by truly understanding business needs and defining up front what success will look like.</p> <p>New to Lean Coffee?</p> <p>It's a great way to have real, focused dialogue and we often discuss matters of agile, lean and such - but anything goes. As far as the mechanics, here's the format we'll follow:</p> <p>Step 1: Everybody writes down proposed topics on stickies, placing them in the center of the table. Take as much time as needed, but typically takes only 3-5 minutes (or whenever coffee is ready).</p> <p>Step 2: Each topic is briefly described by its writer to get a flavor for the subject (15-30 seconds typically per sticky).</p> <p>Step 3: Each person gets five votes which they indicate by marking the voted-for sticky with their Sharpie. Mark with a plus + if you agree with the topic and want to discuss it, or a minus - if you disagree and want to discuss it, mark it with a dot if you want to hear the discussion and maybe join in. You can put all votes on one, one across many, however you feel. Each mark counts as one vote.</p> <p>Step 4: The top vote-getting stickies are placed in the ToDo column, ordered by the stickies with the most votes at the top. In an Agile fashion, we'll use groupings of ToDo, Doing, Done and Lessons learned.</p> <p>Step 5: Each of these stickies are discussed for 5 minutes, most votes first. The facilitator takes a quick "Cesar" (thumbs up/down) vote at the five-minute timer, and she moves on for three more minutes if the discussion still has majority interest. When complete, move the sticky over to the Done column. Rinse and repeat.</p> <p>Step 6: wrap-up thoughts at the end - what one idea or person did you most enjoy, then break for home/drinks/cover.</p> |

<p>🚨Special Presentation Night Alert! 🚨</p> <p>We're are extremely lucky to have Gil Tayar (a Node.js super-wizard) with us to take with him on a deep-dive into Node ES Modules.</p> <p>Here's Gil's rundown of what he'll be covering in his talk "Node ES Modules - something almost, but not quite entirely unlike CommonJS":</p> <p>CommonJS, along with the npm registry, has become the de-facto standard in Frontend and NodeJS development today. But Native ES Modules are coming to NodeJS and the browser. On the surface, they look incredibly similar to CommonJS modules, but the differences are important. In this talk I will describe these differences, the consequences of these differences, and how to start preparing for the new world of Native ES Modules.</p> <p>Why is this talk important? Because Native ES Modules _are_ coming. And everybody will be talking about them in 2019. And we need to be prepared, for it _is_ going to be a difficult transition, because the differences are subtle and they bite.</p> <p>(as a member of the Node Modules WG, I can definitely bring some insight into why ES Modules in Node is taking so long).</p> <p>👉This is going to be an epic night not to miss!
